Homemade Tortillas Recipe – Just a Few Ingredients!

Making tortillas at home is not only fun to do, but it's delicious, and you have the benefit of knowing exactly what is going into your recipe. I will be honest this is a little labor intensive work than I would like. But the end results but the end results are TOTALLY worth it and are for sure a game changer!!
Tortilla Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup + 3 tbsp water
Here's how to make Tortillas at home:
- Whisk flour and garlic salt together in a bowl or standing mixer with the hook attachment
- Pour in oil and mix in mixer or in a bowl with a wooden spoon (keeps from sticking)
- Then add hot water slowly and stir until it forms a ball. If using a standing mixer this will not take long. Allow to knead for a minute
- If using wooden spoon once ball is formed put on a floured surface and knead (skip this if using a stand mixer)
- After you complete the kneading step, put a towel over bowl from standing mixer or take dough and place in back into the bowl and place towel over let sit for 10 minutes
- Cut into 12 balls (I just did this by hand)
- Then flatten each ball and roll them out with rolling pin
- Cook in warm skillet for a minute on each side (or until you see bubbles)
This seems like a lot of work but I promise once you make them a time or two they get easier and oh my they are delicious!!
Homemade Tortillas
Ingredients

- Pour in oil and mix in mixer with hook attachment or use a wooden spoon in bowl if not using a standing mixer (keeps from sticking)
- Then add hot water slowly and stir until it forms a ball if using a stand mixer this will not take long with the hook attachment
- Knead for a minute by hand (If using standing mixer skip this step)
- After kneading put a towel over bowl from standing mixer if not using a standing mixer take dough and place in a bowl and place towel over let sit for 10 minutes
- Cut into 8 -12 balls (depending how big you want them) ~ I just did this by hand
- Then flatten each ball and roll them out with rolling pin
- Cook in warm skillet for a minute on each side (or until you see bubbles)
How do you store homemade tortillas?
You can store any leftovers in a airtight container for up to 2 days.
