Okie dokie folks, I am soooo far from a cutesy dressed girl, but I’ve got to show you what I scored this week at the Gap! My friend Nicki mentioned over on Facebook that you could get $50 in Gap Cards for $35 at Kroger, and after seeing last week’s sales I figured it was worth a shot. It also earned Kroger double fuel points (woot!) which was just a nice extra bonus!

(And yes, apparently I like stripes.) 😉

I don’t shop for clothing all that often (I hate that it’s so expensive, and have such a hard time finding things that look right on me so I tend to stay far from retail stores when at all possible.) But, I decided to try it out, and here’s how I did. . .

Bought 1 pair navy & white espadrilles $8.99 (clearance $14.99 – extra 40% off in store, originally $29.95)

Bought 1 rib tank $7.19 (clearance $11.99 – extra 40% off in store, originally $16.50)

Bought 1 classic ballet shoes $7.78 (clearance $12.97 – extra 40% off in store, originally $39.95)

Bought 1 essential tee $5.99 (clearance $9.99 – extra 40% off in store, originally $19.95)

Bought 1 striped essential tee $9.59 (clearance $15.39 – extra 40% off in store, originally $19.95)

Bought 1 stripe 4-in-1 dress $17.99 (clearance $23.99 – extra 40% off in store, originally $59.95)

Paid $61.93  ($50 in Gap gift cards, $11.93 in cash)

  • Less $15 off savings from Gap gift cards at Kroger
  • Total = $46.93 or $7.62 per item – yay!

The original cost of everything would have been $186.25 (yikes!) which I never would have paid, but it’s fun to think I saved that much!

Be sure to check out your Kroger store and see if they’re offering the same gift card deals – while I couldn’t find the offers from my computer on Kroger’s digital coupon site, they popped up when I searched them on my Kroger mobile phone app.  Here are the other retail coupons to watch for right now:
  • Save $10 when you buy 1 $50 Children’s Place gift card
  • Save $5 when you buy 1 $25 Old Navy Gift Card

Note: to make sure you get the gift card savings, you may want to purchase these in a separate transaction at Kroger so you know the offer is working. Hope that helps!

Right now you can shop the Gap online and check out their clearance savings, however I (think) the prices may be a little better in stores if your store has much selection left. If you’ve scored any great retail savings lately, I’d love to hear about them!

(Thought you all would get a kick out of me trying on that 4-in-1 dress to send the pic to my sister-in-law ~ she always votes yay or nay via text and thinks this one’s worth keeping. Have I mentioned lately I don’t enjoy retail shopping all that much? Of course I’m sporting the “hand-on-my-hip-will-make-me-look-skinnier” look while hoping my daughter will hurry and take a picture decent enough to send.) 😉

I used both the Gap and Old Navy deals to buy back to school uniforms for my 2 oldest. It was great to pay less for uniforms!
