Kids Summer Reading Programs 2024
Did your kiddos plan to do some reading this summer? Don't forget to keep track of their reading (or help them keep track) with a reading log so they can get rewarded! If you need book ideas, Amazon has a ton of Editor Picks for Baby to Young Adults ~ and they usually have a Summer Reading Program, too (no info yet for 2024).
Here are some fun rewards and freebies they can earn:
Books-A-Million – Get a FREE Scholastic Wings of Fire Hat when you read (4) books from the Summer Reading Adventure section and write about those books in your Summer reading log. Click on the banner at the top of the page here to print your 2024 reading log.
Chuck E. Cheese – Get 10 Free play points for kids who read each day for 2 weeks in a row (they have a lot of other rewards here too!)
Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program – Students can redeem one Reading Award Certificate per month in exchange for a Free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza.
Scholastic – Through September 12th, 2024, kids can visit the summer zone in Scholastic Home Base, a completely free digital destination which offers stories, characters, games, and a community of readers. Home Base is moderated for safety 24/7.
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library – You can actually get a FREE BOOK every month if this program is available in your area!
Barnes & Noble – Kids can keep a book reading journal and then turn it in at a local store from July 1st – August 31st, 2024. Any kiddo in 1st – 6th grade who read 8 books will get a free book as long as their journal is complete.
Showcase Cinemas Bookworm Wednesdays – Bookworm Wednesdays entitles kids to free movie admission to a select children's film when they present a book report at a participating Cinema de Lux, Showcase, or Multiplex Cinemas box office. Accompanying parents or guardians and children under six years of age receive free admission and do not need to submit a book report.
Public Library – Many public libraries offer kids' reading rewards programs and fun activities during the summer as well! (Go here for tons of other public library card freebies!)
Half Priced Books – Campers can earn $5 Bookworm Buck rewards by marking off the days they read from June 1st through July 31st, 2024. During the months of July and August campers can visit their local HPB with their completed reading logs to receive $5 Bookworm Bucks which are good for $5 off anything in store.
