What you'll need
- Chocolate brownies – you can use whatever box mix OR homemade recipe you love
- White icing – grab the kind you can just pipe out of the tube, or add some to a piping bag with a small circle tip
- Optional – chocolate frosting
- Football cookie cutter – I grabbed this one online and it worked perfectly. My friend, Ashley, has this cutter with the little laces on the top and loves it! If you're really in a time crunch and have a cheap circle cookie cutter you don't mind losing, you can bend it to make an oval shape.
How to make football brownies
Start by preparing your brownies according to the box or recipe and letting them cool completely. Try not to rush the cooling because if they're still warm, the frosting might pull the chocolate a bit.
Note: I recommend lining your baking sheet or pan with parchment paper. This way, you can easily lift the brownie sheet out onto a cutting board and it will be much easier to work with.
Use your football cutter to make as many football shapes as you'd like. You may have to get strategic to maximize your space!
Once your footballs are cut out, you can top with chocolate frosting or leave them plain. I used store-bought chocolate frosting and it was so good! I also left some plain so guests would have a choice.
Finally, use your white icing to add the white accents/laces to the football. You'll put a semi-circle on each end and a horizontal line in the middle. Add three small vertical lines across the horizontal and you're set!
Aren't these just adorable? They are such an easy way to add a homemade, creative touch to your menu.
