I have a friend that also uses this to clean the front of her air returns. Mine are in my ceiling so it’s hard to climb a ladder snd her all that out. I’m going to try to use it for that too

I do not have an opening at the bottom of my dryer door.
I had a dryer vent at the top by the knobs. It should still work.
Get both. You can get more out if you use the brush then vacuum a second time. If it doesn’t work well your vacuum filter(s) probably need to be cleaned.
