Craving the Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s? You can make this copycat recipe at home instead!

Copycat Shamrock Shake
Every year when Shamrock Shakes show up on the McDonald’s menu, it feels like the official start of St. Patrick’s Day season. But instead of heading to the drive-thru, we realized something fun… you can make an adorable, creamy Shamrock Shake right at home with just a few simple ingredients.
This recipe is so easy – it only takes about 2 minutes to blend up, and it’s such a fun treat to make with kids. Add whipped cream, a cherry, and a sprinkle of green on top, and it looks just like the festive shake from the restaurant! (Maybe even cuter!)
If you love McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes but don’t love the drive-thru line (or the price!), you’re going to love this copycat recipe.

Ingredients:
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- ¼ teaspoon mint extract
- 6 drops green food coloring
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Maraschino cherry (optional)
- Green sprinkles (optional)
This recipe makes one large milkshake. If you want more servings, simply double, triple, or quadruple the ingredients!
How to make a copycat Shamrock Shake:

Add the ice cream, milk, mint extract, and food coloring to a blender.
Note: start with a tiny bit of mint extract. A little goes a long way, but you can always add more if you’d like a stronger mint flavor.
Blend until smooth and creamy. For a thicker shake, add more ice cream. For a thinner shake, add a splash more milk.

Pour into a glass.
Top with whipped cream, a cherry, and green sprinkles if you’d like. To show off your Shamrock Shake, serve it in a tall clear glass with whipped cream piled high.

You can also customize this shake with extra mix-ins! Try crushed Oreos, chocolate chips, or Andes mint pieces for an extra fun twist.
These would be perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day party, an after-school treat, or just a festive dessert! It’s quick and cute, and once you realize how easy it is, you might just skip the drive-thru for good!
