Are You A Real Mom? originally posted in December of 2009
Yesterday morning my hubby and I woke up to the crashing of our Christmas tree at 4:30 AM. We stayed up until 5:30 cleaning it up (when I was supposed to go exercise – HA!), went back to bed until 6:15 when our son woke us up to tell us the fish finally died (long story. . .  our two year old killed it.)  At 6:50 we hurried the kids on the bus, I made a Christmas wreath appetizer to take to a teacher luncheon, started a load of laundry, bathed my stinky 2 year old and put sheets in her crib. (My husband didn’t notice there weren’t any sheets in her bed when he put her to bed the night before – on her plastic mattress. Ahem.) I then ran to one school to drop off the cute appetizer, another school to drop off some teacher gifts, and to CVS to try to pick up my free bows, tissue paper, & razors. All before 9:30. WHAT WAS I THINKING?
The rest of the day was spent running through stores with Reagan trying to get last minute Christmas gifts and battling way too many shoppers. I came home, looked up a few good deals, packed the kids up for gymnastics, came back home to bake up some cookies for my son’s piano recital, went to the piano recital, came home again, put kids to bed, ornaments back on the tree, and wrapped a few gifts to deliver today. I finally came to check my e-mail and my bestest friend Nancy had sent me this real mom link HERE.
I must say – I am a real mom. I am a mess and the Christmas any! season sometimes brings out the worst in me. I really don’t understand why my bathroom smells like pee (if they want to shoot something so badly why can’t they learn to aim???)  There isn't a square inch of my home that hasn't been boogered on, vomitted on, peed on or pooped on, and as much as I’d like to have a perfect picture home, it’s just not happening.
So I’ve got one recipe posted for today, (see HERE) and late tonight I’ll hopefully get another recipe up for some yummy soup and maybe that cute Christmas wreath recipe posted too! But this is all I can do for now – I hope I’m not the only one who’s a real mom today! Â
(I was about to post this and looked down as my sweet Reagan dumped an entire bottle of glue on my computer hard drive – I QUIT!)

This is great! Thanks for sharing. Now I don’t feel so bad that my bed is covered right now in laundry!
I just made my hubby handle folding laundry tonight . . . seriously, where does all that stuff come from? 🙂
Thank you for posting this!! I have four kids under the age of 7 and most days I am literally losing my mind by lunch! It’s nice to know I am not the only one. 🙂
You’re not the only one! 🙂 I finally got to a place where I was so overwhelmed this morning that I realized I just couldn’t do it – all mommies need a break some days!
I love this laurie! It made me smile just picturing it all and seeing little reagan pour the glue on your pc. lol! Your babies are just adorable! Enjoy this time with them. Hard to believe that Summer is already halfway over!
That Reagan is a mess! I wish I had more time to just slow down this summer and enjoy them (gotta work on that!!!)
love, love, love this 🙂 Thank you for being so real and reminding us other moms that it’s ok to be too! You are awesome 🙂
Thanks Carolyn! We moms are mess, aren’t we? 🙂 I love ’em, but oh my goodness it’s so easy to get overwhelmed.
I hear ya!! We had ones of those days today. So glad His mercies are new every morning. :). And that my girls love me even on my bad days. 🙂
You inspired me to do my own Are You A Real Mom? post on my blog! I linked to you here http://www.apurposedrivenhome.com/?p=2062 🙂 Thanks again!
LOVE that Carolyn :). Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Thanks so much for the laugh, Laurie! Enjoy a little time off with those kiddos – they’ll grow up before you know it! 🙂
