Our Team's Favorite Children's Book Series
1. Chronicles of Narnia
Laurie Said – Reagan's reading the Chronicles of Narnia series now and has loved them! I've been surprised – we don't let her have her phone after 9, so she's been staying up til 11 reading (I didn't expect her to love them so much!)
Jamie agreed – My husband got the boys into these books and they loved them. I love that it's a Christian allegory!
2. Percy Jackson and the Olympians 5-Book Boxed Set
Jamie said – This series kept my boys enthralled for many many hours – they even went so far as to “bully” the younger brothers into reading them and we followed up by watching the movies. SO much heroic adventure!
Andrea agreed – My son loves all the Rick Riordan books. So pre-teen TEEN boy. But he's read them since 4th-5th grade.
Lori agreed too – They were very fun & entertaining. My son & oldest daughter both loved these.
3. SkippyJon Jones
Cheryl said – Our FAVORITE books, when my daughter was younger, were the Skippyjon Jone's series! He's a Siamese cat that thinks he's a Chihuahua. Every night we'd read them together and sing song the chorus and she would do the sound effects. We loved these because they were full of adventure and you never knew what Skippyjon Jones was going to get himself into in his imaginary world.
4. Little House on the Prairie Series
(And oh my word how sweet is this Pioneer Dress-Up Set!)
Staci says – Both of my daughters were fascinated by the details of living this way. They really enjoyed going back in time with Laura.
5. The Mysterious Benedict Society
Lori's son said – Oh, I loved those books! They really made me think. We took turns reading them together at night.
6. Nancy Drew Mysteries
Staci says – I know it is old school, but my girls were enthralled with the mysteries.
7. Harry Potter Paperback Set Books 1-7
Cheree & Jamie's kids all loved these  – My most reluctant reader turned into a HUGE reading fan by starting on this series. The way Harry rose to every challenge and overcame his fear was a good lesson for them.
8. The Secret Garden
Laurie says –Â While not a series – my Caroline liked The Secret Garden – probably the only book she ever read through!
9. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series
Jamie says – All four of my boys would spend their OWN money on these books and ask for them for all the birthdays/holidays. That should tell you how excited they were to read each one!
Cheree said her kids loved these too!
10. Kingdom Keepers
These are great reads for kids 9-12 years!
11. Choose Your Own Adventure Boxed SetÂ
These were among the most popular books around when I was a child – and there's something about choosing your own ending that still makes these so much fun to read!
12. Junie B Jones Best Boxed Set Ever
Jamie says – My youngest loved these SO much we had to make it to the book fair on day 1 every time to get the latest. Junie is HILARIOUS and doing her voice was a blast – reading them aloud was almost as fun as watching him giggle.
13. The Hunger Games Series (Young Adults)
Jamie says – Suzanne Collins knocks another series out of the park with the Hunger Games Series. This one is more for teens – but really pulls you in with all the drama and action.
14. National Geographic Weird By True & Myths Books
For TRULY reluctant readers – and especially boys – you can't beat this quick bites of weird facts to get them intrigued.
15. Boxcar Children Series
Mary said she loved reading these as a kid and would always imagine putting herself in their shoes!
