Who says you can’t save on whole foods? 🙂 I just got back from our new Fresh Thyme Market, and goodness gracious, they have such fantastic prices on fresh meats and produce if you’re willing to really shop their sales ad.

I went this morning and took advantage of their double ad Wednesday (meaning you get to enjoy last week’s ad savings as well as the savings for the new ad which starts each Wednesday), and was so pleased with my trip.  Here’s what I bought:

  • 1 whole chicken $3.60 ($.99/lb – chicken is 50% off this week)
  • 2.67 boneless skinless chicken breast $6.31 ($1.99/lb. after 50% off sale)
  • 1 cantaloupe $1 each
  • 1 bunch celery $.99
  • 3 lb bag golden delicious apples $2.99
  • 7.93 lbs grapes $.77/lb
  • 1 bunch green onions $.50
  • 1 pineapple $2
  • 1.61 red potatoes $.50/lb
  • 6 packs strawberries 4/$5 (ends today)
  • Total = $33.18, saved $37.77

Do you have a Fresh Thyme Market in your area? It looks to me like they’re fairly new in many towns, so I’m curious if the prices will continue to say so low on their sale items. (I sure hope they do!) Hopefully they’ll be opening more of these in different cities (it looks like they are on their website) – and if you’re near one I definitely recommend swinging by! (But be sure to take your stock-up price list with you so you stick with buying only the best deals.)

Oh and I forgot to mention that they have carts that can hold larger special needs children which is really nice too.

I love my local Fresh Thyme. I tend to get all of my produce from there and my chicken. I will say the chicken breasts are huge so I tend to split them. But there produce prices cant be beat and it is always fresh. My kids love to go to look for the red tracket they hide each week because if youbfind it and tell the check out staff the get an organic sucker. Keeps them busy and quiet. Its not all organc, but even the organic are priced well. Great naturally raised beef too.

I love this store. The closest is an hour away. Any time we are in the area, I stip by and stock up on produce and other sale items. I am gluten free and they have my favorite pasta brand in lots of shapes for a very low price when it goes on sale. I bought enough for at least six months last time I happened there and it was on sale. Easily half the price I find this pasta at other stores.

I love this store. One recently opened in Fort Wayne which is about 45 minutes from us, but when I get the chance I love to shop there.

We got one in the Cincinnati area last August. The sales really are that great, and have stayed low since they opened!
Their regular prices aren’t so great, but there are enough deals to justify adding this in to my grocery trip schedule (typically, weekly Kroger, monthly Sam’s, Trader Joe’s and Aldi). I now go to Fresh Market every other Wednesday-that way, I get the best of all their ads while minimizing my trips. I really meal plan around their sales! We’re eating far more fresh produce, even in the dead of Ohio winter, and spending less overall. Did you also have blackberries for $.99 yesterday? We stocked up on those!
Once I had some chicken breast that seemed tough. I mentioned it to the meat counter man on my next trip and to my surprise he gave me a huge package of chicken to replace it and apologized for a less than stellar experience. The replacement pack was great!

I plan my trip every other Wednesday as well Christie – and like you we’re eating so much more fresh produce thanks to Fresh Thyme! Like you said, their prices on so many other items are high, but if you shop their whole foods and watch the sales ads you can really stock up. (And I missed the blackberries yesterday – ugh!)

Are these all organic? Because really these are the same price or within a few cents of what I normally pay at Walmart…

    • Laurie says

Only a few of them were organic Jessica, but I haven’t seen those prices (or quality!) at my local Walmart here – if your store carries produce at that price – especially in the middle of winter, that’s fantastic!
