You've probably heard someone in your life rave about Buc-ee's, but you might not know why… until now! Here's 5 reasons why Buc-ees is beloved by Texas (and just recently, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia!)
Heard of Buc-ee's? You May Have One Near You Soon!
Jamie here! Living in Tennessee, I had only ever heard of the wonderland that is Buc-ee's, and I never thought I'd have a chance to visit one all the way down in Texas. But recently they opened a location just South of me in Calhoun, GA and not too far away in Sevierville, TN (near Dollywood).
I thought it was time I looked into the Buc-ee's hype and make a visit soon…
What is Buc-ee's?
Buc-cee's is a travel center like everything else in its home state of Texas… BIG. In fact, big may be an understatement. Think a gas station the size of a Walmart with the attraction of an amusement park and you're getting close.
The latest and greatest Buc-ees that recently opened in Sevierville, TN measured in at 74K Square Feet (WHOA!). And if you're wondering what a “gas station” needs with all that square footage, you're about to find out.
Here's why people are a little fanatical about the world's most-loved travel center…
Buc-ees Near Me
Buc-cee's was founded in Texas and has 38 locations there – they've recently expanded to open in several more states including Alabama, Georgia, Florida and most recently in Kentucky & Tennessee.

1. The Food
On of the things Buc ee's is most famous for is it's snack selection. Whether their insane selection of beef jerky, or homemade fudge (like banana pudding fudge?!) floats your boat – or you lean more towards the popular Beaver Nuggets or Cheese Curds – you're sure to find your perfect road trip snack!
- Beaver Nuggets
- Homemade Kolaches (Sweet or Savory)
- Fresh Homemade Pastries

Fresh Food on the Menu
In fact – they'll make fresh food right in front of you while you wait! The Buc-ee's employees are actively cooking up tasty treats at the Texas Roundup and Sweets station so you can get a hot lunch on the go that ISN'T a microwaved burrito.
2. Clean Bathrooms (& We Mean CLEAN)
Buc cee's boasts the cleanest bathrooms in the world – and their fans agree wholeheartedly. In fact – at the latest grand opening of the Sevierville location a couple of Texas transplants miss being near a Buc cee's, they answered “Clean bathrooms. Clean bathrooms, clean bathrooms”. The award-winning restrooms extend to provide showers for long-haul truckers in many locations as well.
Stalls have overhead lights that signal from red to green when they become available – and families on road trips can rest assured they'll be pristine when they visit.
3. Home Decor & Gift Boutique
According to PPP Team Member Staci, you can get about anything and everything you need at Buc ees. If you're heading out on a trip you can grab a beach towel, a new swimsuit, a baby shower gift, a wedding gift, and a new chip and dip platter – all at once.
They also carry used tires, camping supplies, a fire pit, hunting supplies – goodness you name it you're likely to find it!
4. Fun T-Shirts & Merchandise
Pick up fun t-shirts and hats (even swimsuits) embossed with the beloved Buc-ee and make a fashion statement that declares your love for the world's friendliest beaver! You can also pick up mugs, stickers, dolls and tons more.
If you're not lucky enough to live near a Buc ee's – you can still pick up a fun shirt on Amazon (would make a great gift!)
5. Gas & Car Wash
Buc-ee's is the United States top-rated gas station chain and it's NOT just for what's inside the store.
With over 100 gas pumps at some locations (120 in the Sevierville, TN location) and up to a 250-ft long car wash – the outside of the store is pretty exciting as well.
The gas is competitive in price – and you can save 10¢ a gallon with the Buc-ee's Gas Card.
Buc-ee's actually has the world's LONGEST car wash – clocking in at a 255ft conveyer!!

Ain’t no potty like a Buc-ee’s Potty!!
I was going to ask the same, is the Sevierville one open?!? I’ll find out tomorrow or Thursday for sure if it is! We’ll be stopping at the Crossville Buc-ee’s tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up!
Which one has the walking taco bar?!? Pretty sure Crossville does not.
I LOVE Buc-ee’s!!!
Bonnie says
There is only one Bucee’s in Tennessee so far & that’s in Crossville, TN. The one in Sevierville is not supposed to open until summer 2023.
Karla says
Going on a road trip soon hopefully we will find one on our way to Western New York from Florida
Mary Martin says
Does anyone know if Buc-ees has mobility scooters? Would love to do a road trip, but my husband and I could never walk that much. Thanks!
Mary ~ PPP Team says
Hi Mary, unfortunately, I don’t think they have mobility scooters. 🙁
Sheri says
I heard they do not allow semi trucks to park on their lot, do you know if thats true?
Mary ~ PPP Team says
Hmm, I’m not quite sure, Sheri?! I wonder if you could contact them and see what they say?
https://buc-ees.com/about/frequently-asked-questions/
Cyndy says
They do not. They have signs at the parking lot entrance stating no semis.

I live in Daytona Beach and we just got our Buccee’s in Ormond! I go there once a week to get my gas and look around. I’ve got a “pig” motif going in my kitchen and have added a different one almost every visit from the home decor area! There’s nothing on earth like Buccee’s!
Laurie says
So glad you enjoy shopping there Kanelli ~ thanks for your feedback! 🙂
Melissa Christine Cooper says
Sounds a lot like Wally’s to me!
Niki says
BBQ sandwich is my favorite, along with the warm candied pecans and almonds!! We love being able to stop at one place and make everyone happy. And the RRs cannot be beat. Also, they are always packed to the gills but I never seem to wait long, there’s so many check out stands!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Laurie says
Those sound super yummy Niki ~ thanks for sharing! 🙂

We traveled to Texas from California for my youngest granddaughter’s first birthday on 10/8/21. We stopped at a Buc-Ees and yes it was clean. But I have to tell you all the rest stops we were at and gas stations were pretty darn clean outside of California. Don’t get me started on my Native State! Moving to Texas in 2 years!! I’m not even kidding!
Michelle says
I live near the original Bucees and there’s about 10 locations within 30 minutes of me. They’re smaller than the mega gas stations found on interstates, but still have awesome stuff and the cleanest bathrooms! I’m a mom of girls so we route our road trips to take bathroom stops at Buccees, and when we can’t it’s bad bc other gas stations are so filthy and gross! We buy all kinds of Bucees themed merch- my daughter even got a Bucees bathing suit this summer. Definitely not your typical gas station!!
Oh and their prices on fountain drinks are great! Bring your own cup and pay $0.75 for any size. I keep a tote bag with our 30oz Rtic cups in the car for filling up when we go. (Drinking a Diet Coke from Bucees right now actually! )
Deborah L May says
We were literally there last week and it was well worth the stop. Even though it is a gas station the store had beautiful household decor, clothing and gourmet foods. We will stop again when possible!
Ei says
The milk/dark chocolate covered beaver nuggets are to die for. The brisket is cut as you watch. The soda fountain is about 45 selections long – and they have some amazing artwork available too. There’s really not much they don’t carry . I’m so excited we will be 15min from one once our house is built!!
Chelsie says
I am from Texas and travel back from Arkansas often to see my family. This is a must stop! You would think it’s Disneyland to my kiddos!!! Haha if we don’t stop here – there are some unhappy girls!! Lol
Paula Tew says
candied jalepenos – mix with cream cheese and it is an amazing dip! A friend (from Texas) introduced it to us at a church social and it was DELICIOUS! We love Buc-ees!
Diana Burton says
We go to Bucee’s in Texas frequently (my husband more than me because his job has him on the road quite a bit. He swears their BLT is the best he’s ever had & he always opts for extra bacon, cut the mayo. But I don’t think I’ve ever had anything bad there. And yes, the restrooms are THAT clean.
Monte Terrie V says
I love their homemade chips. We have visited the locations in Houston, Dallas and Alabama. All were very clean! My husband knows when we stop I need at least one hour just to look around.
Nikki says
Sevierville is not open yet! We drove through the one in Calhoun on the way back to Virginia (outside of Bristol) and I would gladly make a trip back tonight! I regret not buying Bucee matching Christmas pajamas for the family (and dog!). It’s amazing!
Lisa Anderson says
Their Root Beer is my favorite ever!!! I don’t drink it as much anymore after losing 100 pounds, but it’s so good!
