Zoo trail mix is so fun and easy to make for a little extra magic on your zoo trip this summer or just to have on hand at home!
Zoo Trail Mix – Great for Summer Zoo Trips!
This zoo-themed trail mix is such a fun way to make your day at the zoo even more exciting! My friend, Laura, recently made a batch for a zoo trip and said her kids were thrilled when she brought it out during a snack break.
Laura, here!
We recently made a trip to the zoo and I made sure to be a super organized mom and packed our snacks & lunches so there would be no temptation to spend a car payment on buying food AT the zoo. But, I wanted to add a little extra magic to our snack time, so I created this zoo trail mix for my kids.
Don't you just love how you can toss together a bunch of yummy treats and call it a trail mix even though it'll never see a hiking trail in it's life?? 😉
How to Make Zoo Trail Mix:
For the animal theme I added:
- Animal crackers
- Circus animal cookies
- Teddy grahams
- Goldfish
- You could also add Swedish Fish, Gummy bears, or Annie's bunny crackers
To round out the mix I added:
- Pretzels
- Peanut Butter M&Ms
- Dried pineapple
- You could also add popcorn, cereal like Cheerios or Chex, other dried fruits, nuts, or pumpkin seeds

Mix it all together in a big bowl and divide out! I put individual servings in my girls' snack containers (I use these stackable containers for all of our outings now and they are SUCH a game changer) and then a baggie for my husband and I.
This was such a fun addition to our zoo trip and now has me thinking of other themed trail mix ideas!
