Walmart Text To Shop is a new innovative way to shop and order your groceries – right from your phone. Check out all the details right here!
Walmart Text To Shop
Walmart just launched a new and convenient way to shop outside of the store – simply by texting them! The Text to Shop feature is available for free on all iOS and Android devices.
How do you get started with Walmart text shopping?
There is a SUPER simple sign up page, where you'll link to your existing Walmart account (or set up a new account if you don't have one). If you are signing up from a link in your email, you'll be given a code to scan with your phone.
Walmart will then use your purchase history to allow for seamless text shopping. I played around with this a bit this afternoon, and it is pretty neat to see how well it works!
For example, if you text Walmart “add milk to my cart”, Walmart knows you normally buy lactose-free milk and will add that to your cart. You can see below, we asked the text bot to add applesauce and it very quickly pulled our typical purchase – as well as gave clear and easy direction if we wanted a different type of applesauce.
If you're shopping for something you don't normally purchase, Walmart will give you a few relevant options based on what's available and most-purchased and you can select from the options in your reply. AND if you just type “reorder” the bot will give you a list of frequently purchased items you may be running low on. Pretty futuristic, right?
You can even use Text to Shop to checkout, or you can seamlessly switch to the Walmart app or website to review your cart and checkout.
Why not just shop online or in the store? Why use the text to shop feature?
In one word – convenience. Walmart wants to target busy families and young people who are on the go and know they have their phones with them nearly 100% of the time. By using text messages, it's a platform that many people have become used using each and every day. Instead of having to make a separate list somewhere or jot something down, you can simply text the items, and know they're in your cart when you're ready to check out.
What do you think? Will you use this new texting feature for your Walmart shopping?

Honestly Walmart has messed up so many orders for me recently I seriously doubt I’d try it. I even placed an online order for pickup. Was given a time right after a mri as I couldn’t drive then due to a wreck. Five minutes before we were to head to pickup order, I received a message that it was delayed. They had my money, of course, and I tried calling the store and no one answered any of their numbers. The next day I received a message they had cancelled my order by my request. So I was without my money for almost a week and didn’t have the stuff I needed. Wrote corporate and I have never heard a thing from them. So not real happy with Walmart.
