How To Help Others While Social Distancing
Shannon here! With everything going on I think it would be soo cool if we all came together and helped others around us! But it's a little harder to find ways to help people while keeping your distance…
And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’ Matthew 25:40
Here are a few ideas we came up with. If you have any suggestions, we would love for you to comment and let us know!
1. Send a single parent an egift card for a Restuarant or AmazonÂ
As a former single mom I cannot imagine how single parents are doing right now. Sending an egift card to Amazon or a restaurant sure would be an awesome gift!
2. Make cards for nursing home residents or neighborsÂ
Simply have your kiddos make sweet cards for the residents at your local nursing home. Right now a lot of nursing homes are not allowing visitors so if you are able to drop off the cards how awesome would that be! If you do not have cards at home simply take a sheet of paper and fold it in half and wtire a sweet message!
If your local nursing home is not accepting cards then simply make them and put them in your neighbors mailbox.
3. Send encouraging text to someone who is in the medical field or just a friend
I do not know about you but I love when I get an unexpected text from a friend asking how I am doing and that they are praying for me with a Bible verse. Right now everyone is lonely. A text out of the blue sure would lift someones spirit and make them see you care. 😉
4. Mow the grass for an elderly neighbor or family member
This is one I think will help in so many ways. Simply call or knock and step back and ask if you can cut your neighbors yard.
5. Bring a meal to a neighbor or friend ~ leave on the doorstep or just order a meal for delivery.
How awesome would it be to just bless someone with a night off of cooking. If you are like me trying to keep up with working from home, entertaining my child and keeping up with household duties I am wore out. A night off of cooking out of the blue would be really awesome!
6. Video call someone rather than call
Normally this would not be a big deal but right now staying in the home it sure would be awesome to see someones smile since they are covered up everywhere with masks. 🙂
7. If you are headed to the store ask someone who is homebound if they need something.Â
I think this is huge! If you have to head to the store make sure you ask someone who is staying home if you can grab them something. I have even offered to spray dow nthe items with Lysol after dropping them off the front porch.
8. See if your local school needs donations
This is HUGE! Our local schools are collecting donations for the kiddos in need. Our schools are even bringing breakfast and lunches as well, if you want to volunteer you can (just wear mask and gloves).
9. Make masks to donateÂ
This would be a great time to make extra mask for others! Check out how to make face masks over here!
10. Hold Up Signs for Nurses as they leave their shift and honk your horn
How fun does this sound! Just simply go to the hospital at the end of shifts (just call the hospital to find out what time) and stay in your car and hang a sign outside the car and honk your horn. This will give such encouragement to all the nurses!
Have you been making helping others out? We'd just love for you to share your stories and pictures with us by sending them to contact@passionatepennypincher.com! Let us know in your email if it's okay that we share your pictures 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing that Fawnda ~ hugs! (It’s amazing what single moms (like you and Shannon were) are able to juggle ~ I’m sure any ways to brighten these mama’s day or lighten their load would be such a blessing!). We so appreciate you reading PPP ~ hope you have a beautiful day!

Yes I was for a few years Fawnda! It is so hard being a single parent! I think sometimes we go through those hard times so God can use us for those in the same situation to help them! That actually drives me in my job. I think if there is a single mom out there struggling with her grocery budget I want to help her! 🙂

Make two homemade loaves of bread and give one to a friend or neighbor. Everyone loves homemade bread.

I love this idea Nancy!
