Tax Free Weekends for 2026
Shopping during Tax Free Weekends are a great way to save a little extra – and there are usually some awesome back to school sales happening the same weekends! Be sure to watch the dates and what is included, as they vary by type as well as the dollar amount included.
When do 2026 Tax Free Weekends Start?
Alabama: July 17 – 19
- Clothing (up to $156 or less per article), Computers (up to $1,173 or less), School supplies (up to $78), Books (up to $47)
Arkansas: August 1 – 2
- Clothing and Footwear (up to $100), School supplies (no limit), Electronic devices (no limit)
Connecticut: August 16 – 22
- Clothing and footwear (less than $100 per item – excludes accessories and protective or athletic clothing)
Florida: August 7 – 8
- School supplies (up to $50), Clothing, footwear, and accessories (up to $100), Computers and related accessories (up to $1,500); Learning aids or puzzles (up to $30)
Iowa: August 7 – 8
- Clothing and footwear (up to $100)
Maryland: August 9 – 15
- Clothing & footwear (up to $100)
Mississippi: July 10 – 12
- Clothing and Shoes (up to $100); School Supplies (up to $100)
Missouri: August 7 – 9
- Clothing (up to $100), School Supplies (up to $50), Computer Software (up to $350), Computers (up to $1,500), Graphing Calculators (up to $150)
New Mexico: July 31 – August 2
- Clothing (up to $100), School Supplies (up to $30), Backpacks (up to $100), Computer related items (up to $500), Computers (up to $1,000), Handheld Calculators (up to $200)
Oklahoma: August 7 – 9
- Clothing and footwear (up to $100)
South Carolina: August 7 – 9
- Clothing, School supplies, Computers (no limit stated)
Tennessee: July 24 – 26
- Clothing (up to $100), School supplies (up to $100), Computers (up to $1,500)
Texas: August 7 – 9
- Clothing (up to $100), School Supplies & Backpacks (up to $100)
Virginia: August 7 – 9

How to Save Money on Back to School
Back to school can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be! Taking advantage of these tax free weekends and shopping the back to school sales are perfect to help reduce the costs. You can also take advantage of savings at second hand stores like Goodwill to save on backpacks and school supplies.
