Tax Free Weekends are coming soon for many states through the country. You shop TAX FREE for certain items – and the dates usually align with back to school sales!
Tax Free Weekends for 2025
Shopping during Tax Free Weekends are a great way to save a little extra – and there are usually some awesome back to school sales happening the same weekends! Be sure to watch the dates and what is included, as they vary by type as well as the dollar amount included.
When do 2025 Tax Free Weekends Start?Â
Alabama: July 18 – 20
- Clothing (up to $100), Computers (up to $750), School supplies (up to $50), Books (up to $30)
Arkansas: August 2 – 3
- Clothing and Footwear (up to $100), School supplies (no limit), Electronic devices (no limit)
Connecticut: August 16 – 22
- Clothing and footwear (up to $300)
Florida: July 28 – Aug 10
- Â School supplies (up to $50), Clothing, footwear, and accessories (up to $100), Computers and related accessories (up to $1,500)
Iowa: August 1 – 2
- Clothing and footwear (up to $100)
Maryland: August 9 – 15
- Clothing & footwear (up to $100)
Oklahoma: August 1 – 3
- Clothing (up to $100)
South Carolina: August 1 – 3
- Clothing, School supplies, Computers (no limit stated)
Tennessee: July 25 – 27
- Clothing (up to $100), School supplies (up to $100), Computers (up to $1,500)
Texas: August 8 – 10
- Â Clothing (up to $100), School Supplies & Backpacks (up to $100)
Virginia:Â August 1 – 3
- Clothing (up to $100), School supplies (up to $20)
West Virginia: August 1 – 4Â
- Clothing (up to $125), School supplies (up to $20), Sports Equipment (up to $150), and Computer/Tablets (up to $500)
Note that there are SEVERAL states that typically do have a tax free weekend, but haven't announced the dates for 2025 yet. You can keep an eye on the Tax Admin site for the dates for those states!Â
Saving on Back to School
Back to school can be challenging, but it doesn't have to be! Taking advantage of these tax free weekends and shopping the back to school sales are perfect to help reduce the costs. You can also take advantage of savings at second hand stores like Goodwill to save on backpacks and school supplies.
