Tax Free Weekends for 2023
Shopping during Tax Free Weekends are a great way to save a little extra – and there are usually some awesome back to school sales happening the same weekends! Be sure to watch the dates and what is included, as they vary by type as well as the dollar amount included.
2023 Tax Free Shopping Days
Alabama: July 21 – 23
- Clothing (up to $100), Computers (up to $750), School supplies (up to $50), Books (up to $30)
Arkansas: August 5 – 6
- Clothing (up to $100), School supplies (no limit)
Connecticut: August 20 – 26
- Clothing and footwear (up to $100)
Florida: July 24 – August 6
- Clothing, footwear, & accessories (up to $100), Learning aids & Jigsaw puzzles (up to $30), School supplies (up to $50), Computers (up to $1,500)
Illinois: They won't be having one for 2023 (info here)
- Clothing & school supplies (up to $125)
Iowa: August 4 – 5
- Clothing & footwear (up to $100)
Maryland: August 13 – 19
- Clothing & footwear (up to $100)
Massachusetts: August 12 – 13
- All retail goods for personal use priced at $2,500 or less (except motor vehicles, motorboats, meals, telecommunication services, gas, steam, electricity, tobacco products, marijuana and marijuana products)
Mississippi: July 28 – July 29
- Clothing & footwear (up to $100), School Supplies (up to $100)
Missouri: August 4 – 6
- Clothing & Shoes (up to $100), School Supplies (up to $50 per transaction), Computers (up to $1,500)
New Mexico: August 4 – 6
- Clothing (up to $100), School supplies (up to $30), Computers (up to $1,000), Computer equipment (up to $500)
Ohio: August 4 – 6
- Clothing (up to $75), School supplies (up to $20), Instructional materials (up to $20)
Oklahoma: August 4 – 6

Saving on Back to School
Back to school can be challenging, but it doesn't have to be! Taking advantage of these tax free weekends and shopping the back to school sales are perfect to help reduce the costs. You can also take advantage of savings at second hand stores like Goodwill to save on backpacks and school supplies.
