Target shoppers! It's a really good time to sign up for a Target REDcard Debit card – just to have another option for free grocery shipping. And if you're wary of credit cards – DON'T WORRY! I am 100% good with recommending this one because it is a DEBIT card – no interest, just extra discounts! 🙂
Through January 14th, head here to get a $40 off $40 future purchase coupon whenever you sign up for a new Target REDcard Debit or Credit card. The coupon will be mailed to approved cardholders along with their REDCard and will be valid through March 15th, 2023.
I love Target home decor more than anything else right now, so I was pretty excited about this one!
Check out a few of my favorite Target finds lately:
I recently snagged this Metal Stick Mini Lamp for my new home and just LOVE it! It's not on clearance, but it's only $12 and is the happiest little lamp!
I also ADORE this brass lamp with a glass base and have it in my laundry room…it's definitely a little pricey, but SOO well-made and just adorable. I want to order another one, but may have to wait until it goes on sale!

If you're trying to stay away from store credit cards with their high-interest rates and temptation to shop, I recommend getting the Target Redcard Debit Card!
It has EXACTLY THE SAME BENEFITS as the Target REDcard Credit Card – but with NONE of the drawbacks.
You can even save 5% off at Starbucks when you use your Target REDcard!

I did this deal before Christmas. I already have the red card debit, so I did the Reloadable debit. It doesn’t pull your credit at all. Before using my coupon in store, I added the online code to my notes app on my phone. As I went through the store, I also added items to my cart for store pickup. I paid with the coupon at the register, then I placed my online order for pickup using the online code. I ended up with $80 of groceries for free this way (thanks to another blog). Actually, I ended up with $90 because they were running $10 off $50 groceries w/same day pickup in the app when I placed it, so I added $52 worth of groceries for $2.
Wow! That is great savings, thank you for sharing with us!
Does the Target Debit Card need approval based on credit? If so, would it be considered a hard inquiry to my credit? Thanks, I want to sign up but not wanting my credit to go down when it’s in such a fragile state!
Hi Jane! Hmm, I don’t believe they pull a credit check for a debit card, but you can always call RedCard Guest Services at 1-800-424-6888 to make 100% sure before signing up ~ hope that helps!
Had my 18 year old do this. Should come in handy as he goes off to college. Love the discount, free shipping, and the $40 off $40 coupon was a bonus.
So glad he was able to get one Darcy! 🙂
I’ve had the Target red card debit for years, but I’ve noticed recently so many items I had to slender $35 to get the free shipping. When did that change?
Was trying to say “spend” $35. Not slender. Lol
I have a question! I got my coupon but do you know— Does the $40 total have to be reached before mfq coupons are applied or after?
Hey Emily! I am assuming it would be after coupons. The safest thing to do would be to ask one of the Target team members for clarification. Stores change their policies so much and I wouldn’t want to tell you the wrong thing. We would love to hear your store’s policy when you find out.
Wow, $39.99 for a wooden tray is way too expensive for a penny pincher IMHO. So are those prints?
I think there is different levels of penny pinchers. When I was first married over 27 years ago, we couldn’t afford anything but the absolute basics. My house was bare bones. Now I can afford to pay for an expensive wooden tray if I want to but will still choose to penny pinch by finding a cheaper alternative. I still want to save money.
Where are the curtains from in the botanical prints photo ?
I signed up during this promotion but did not receive the $50 coupon.
Oh no Jennifer! I would try reaching out to the Target customer service ~ hope they’re able to get it straightened out for you!
If you have a Target Credit Card can you also sign up for the debit card?
Hi Catherine! Yes – you should be able to have a debit and credit card option from Target. Hope that helps!
When will be your next deal 40 or 50$ off for red card ?
I signed up for the REDcard debit all fine, but then there was nothing on the page for sign up or confirmation that me too s the $40 coupon? I got a confirmation email, again nothing about the coupon. How do I know if I’m getting it for sure..???
Hi Holly! You should get the $40 off coupon in the mail along with your new REDcard when it comes! 🙂 Hope that helps!
I signed up for the debit, and got the email confirmation, all set. But where is the info on the $40 coupon? I never saw it in the sign up, in an email- nothing. ???
You should receive your coupon in the mail along with your new REDcard Holly! 🙂 Hope that helps!
Thanks for the comments
Cannot sign up for red card or debit card. None of the links work.
I signed up for the Red Card debit…and got my account number with my approval, however to add it to my Target account it requires the card’s expiration date. So until I get it in the mail how do I use the card and take advantage of the discounts?
I have the same issue. I hope I receive my card soon. I have miss a couple circle deals if I don’t ☹️
Hmm, you might be able to contact the Target customer service line to get the expiration date Nicole and Lora! 🙂 Hoping your card comes soon!
I looked it up and most credit/debit cards expire 3 years after they are issued. I put in the month and 3 years after my card was approved and that worked for me!
Call customer service they are very good
When I did it, it had a brief moment where it displayed my card information on a screen. I took a screenshot of it.
