State Farm Is Sending Out $5 Billion in Dividends (We Got $489!)

If you had State Farm auto insurance in 2025, check your inbox and mailbox! State Farm is sending out a massive $5 billion one-time dividend to qualifying auto insurance customers, and payments are officially being issued now. This is the largest dividend in State Farm’s history, with payments being distributed in waves over the coming months.

And here’s the part that caught our attention…

PPP Team Member Mary just got an email saying she’s getting a whopping $489 back! 😱

Yep – $489! So naturally, we’re wondering… How much are the rest of us getting?!

If you had qualifying State Farm auto insurance during 2025, here’s what you need to know about the State Farm dividend, including who qualifies, how much you could receive, and how to check for your payment.

What Is the State Farm Dividend?

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company announced earlier this year that it would return $5 billion to qualifying auto insurance customers through a one-time cash-back dividend.

Unlike a typical insurance rebate or discount, this payment is a dividend being returned to eligible policyholders because State Farm is a mutual insurance company. In other words, policyholders are members of the company rather than the company being owned by outside shareholders.

State Farm had a particularly strong year in 2025, which helped make the historic dividend possible. The company also reduced auto insurance rates in 40 states, resulting in approximately $4.6 billion in annual premium savings for customers.

And now, some of that value is being returned directly to qualifying customers! 😍

How Much Is the State Farm Dividend?

So, how much money can you actually get back? Well, it depends! State Farm says individual dividend payments will vary based on factors including the state where the policy was assigned and the premiums paid. The company estimates an average payment of about $100 per insured vehicle, but some customers may receive more or less than that.

And we’ve already seen a pretty big payment here at PPP! PPP Team Member Mary recently received an email letting her know she’d be getting a whopping $489 back! 😱💰

So don’t assume you’ll only be getting around $100. Your individual payment could be significantly higher or lower depending on your policy and premiums. If you had more than one qualifying vehicle insured with State Farm, it’s also worth checking your dividend information to see what you’re eligible to receive.

Who Qualifies for the State Farm Dividend?

You may qualify if you had an eligible private passenger auto insurance policy issued by State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company that was in force at any point between January 1 and December 31, 2025, subject to State Farm’s eligibility requirements.

State Farm says the dividend applies to qualifying policies based on where the policy was assigned, and payments are being distributed in waves.

Not everyone who had State Farm insurance will necessarily receive the same amount, so you’ll want to check the official State Farm dividend information for details about your individual policy.

When Will State Farm Dividend Payments Arrive?

State Farm began issuing dividend payments on July 31, 2026, and payments are continuing to go out.

PPP Team Member Mary just got her notice, so they’re definitely still rolling out!

Because the $5 billion distribution is being sent in waves, don’t panic if your friend or neighbor has already received theirs and you haven’t! Your payment may simply be scheduled for a later wave. State Farm says the distribution will take several months, so qualifying customers should continue watching their inbox and mailbox.

And here’s something helpful to know: if State Farm has your email address on file, you’ll receive an email with instructions for selecting your preferred payment method. If State Farm doesn’t have an email address for you, a check will be mailed to you by standard mail.

I never got an email about it, so I was surprised to get 3 checks- we had 2 vehicles insured with them in 2025.
We got a total of $357 (checks were $58, $77 & $222)…. I was just grateful, cashed them and paid my husband’s $350 speeding ticket with it!!!!

That’s so great – and I did chuckle a little that you used that money to pay for the speeding ticket! 🙂
