Simple Slow Cooker Chicken

Looking for more penny pinched recipes? Here you go!

Just when I thought there wasn't another slow cooker recipe in the world to try, I threw together this yummy Simple Slow Cooker Chicken last night and my family devoured it. I literally rummaged through my pantry and freezer for a little meal time inspiration at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, quickly mixed up a bunch of ingredients on the stovetop, popped it all into Mrs. Potts, and then ran around for carpool duty until it was time for dinner. (I'm telling you what, this mommying business is not for the weak of heart!)

This was so simple and reminded me a bit of a creamier version of our normal Slow Cooker Italian Chicken. If you need something to throw together in your crockpot in a flash, this one's for you!

Simple Slow Cooker Chicken

  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 can golden mushroom soup
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 4 oz sour cream (substitute with 8 oz cream cheese if you don't have sour cream on hand)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 small bouillon cube
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts.

  1. Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Boil 1/2 cup water in microwave, dissolve bouillon cube in water.
  3. Add garlic, cream cheese, sour cream, garlic salt, onion powder, and oregano to melted butter.
  4. Stir over medium heat until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add bouillon mixture to soup mixture and mix well.
  6. Place chicken in slow cooker and pour soup mixture over top.
  7. Cook on low until chicken is tender, about four hours. Serve over noodles or pasta.

  1. This sounds yummy but more ingredients and work than I want for a crockpot meal. It’s sounds very similar to the Italian chicken. I used 2 boneless skinless breasts & 2 thighs sprinkles with Italian dressing mix, 8 oz cream cheese, I had 1 can cream of chick and 1 cream o mushroom & roasted garlic. 30mins to the end, mine looked wet so I dumped in a package on 90second microwave rice. Big hit – all gone!

  2. This looks yummy! It’s the second recipe in a week I have seen that contained golden mushroom soup and it just so happens I picked some up at the store after not really being familiar with it. I’m adding this to the list of new recipes to try!

    • Hope you like it Shayelyn! I’d never bought it before either but accidentally got it instead of beefy mushroom for my favorite roast recipe. It’s a little bit richer than regular cream of mushroom soup, so I’m betting you’ll like it!
