If you’re looking for an absolutely delicious but EASY side dish recipe, these garlic mashed potatoes are just the ticket!

Your handy slow cooker does almost all of the work to create mashed potatoes that are creamy, flavorful, and pair with pretty much ANY main course to give you a complete meal.

Recipe Note: You can find this recipe in our Sides Menu Plan!

Ingredients for Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  • Yukon gold or red potatoes
  • Chicken broth
  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Sour cream
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Milk

How to make mashed potatoes in the slow cooker

Start by peeling half of your potatoes, leaving the other half unpeeled. Chop potatoes into 1-inch pieces.

In your slow cooker, add potatoes and chicken broth. Cut 1/2 stick of butter into small cubes. Top potatoes with cubed butter and garlic.

Cover, and cook on high 3-4 hours or until the potatoes are tender.

Using a potato masher or hand mixer (I absolutely love letting my hand mixer work for me!), mash the potatoes to your desired consistency. Stir in sour cream, salt, and pepper. Add enough milk until potatoes are creamy and serve warm.
