Have you heard?? The Nintendo Switch 2 Console is coming! Nintendo just announced the release of their brand new Nintendo Switch 2, which will be available online and in-store at various retailers on June 5, 2025.
There are quite a few notable features that give the Nintendo Switch 2 a significant advancement in Nintendo's console lineup, including improved performance, enhanced social interaction, and greater versatility.

Nintendo Switch Release Date and Price
​Pre-orders for the console are scheduled to begin on April 9, 2025. ​The Nintendo Switch 2 will sell for $449.99 and a special bundle that includes the new game “Mario Kart World” will be available for $499.99.
Here are the retailers currently offering pre-orders or promos, starting April 9:
Best Buy: Customers can sign up for pre-order notifications through Best Buy's dedicated newsletter. ​
Walmart: Will offer pre-orders for both the standard console and the Mario Kart World bundle.
Target: Will offer pre-orders for both the standard console and the Mario Kart World bundle.
GameStop: Get up to $175 in trade-in credit for existing Switch consoles as part of a promotion.
Amazon: Keep an eye on this page as they will likely offer pre-orders or promos as well.
Nintendo Switch 2 Console features
1. Display and Performance
Screen: Features a 7.9″ 1080p LCD display with HDR support and a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother visuals in handheld mode. ​
Docked Mode: Supports up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second when connected to a TV via the redesigned dock, which includes an ethernet port for improved connectivity. ​
2. Controllers
Joy-Con Controllers: Redesigned with magnetic attachments for enhanced durability and ease of use. They are larger, featuring improved analog sticks designed to reduce drift issues. ​
New Button: A “C” button on the right Joy-Con activates the “GameChat” feature, facilitating real-time video and audio communication during gameplay. ​
3. Social Features
GameChat: Enables integrated video and audio chats, allowing players to communicate seamlessly during games. ​Until March 31, 2026, GameChat can be used without a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Afterwards, a Nintendo Switch Online membership will be required to use GameChat.
GameShare: Allows users to share their gameplay screens with friends, enhancing the social gaming experience. ​
4. Hardware and Storage
Internal Storage: Comes with 256 GB of internal storage, a significant increase from the original Switch. ​
Expandable Storage: Supports microSD Express cards up to 2TB, though older microSD cards are not compatible for game storage. ​
Battery Life: Equipped with a larger battery; however, the exact battery life may vary depending on usage, especially when utilizing features like HDR and higher frame rates. ​
5. Audio and Connectivity
Speakers: Improved speakers with 3D audio effects enhance the immersive experience. ​
Microphone: Built-in microphone with noise filtering supports clear voice communication. ​
Connectivity: Includes Wi-Fi 6 support for faster wireless connections and dual USB-C ports for versatile connectivity options. ​
