“I had an old Breville espresso machine Model: 800ESXL that I purchased in January 2007 (yes I still have the paperwork for the machine). That espresso machine lasted 17 YEARS!!! It made the most delicious espresso up until its last day. It surpassed all my expectations of an espresso machine. I was in need of a new one but couldn’t spend too much at the time. So I settled for a Gevi espresso machine Model: GECME022-U. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with the Gevi model. Everything was made of plastic and it only lasted 8 months before the whole machine started leaking water from every part. I could never get a good-tasting espresso from the Gevi machine. So I saved up enough to invest in a new Breville espresso machine Model: BES810 BSSUSC. I made my first cup of espresso today with my new machine and at last, I had my perfect beloved espresso back again!!! Lesson learned: you get what you pay for. If this espresso machine lasts nearly as long as my first one did then Breville – you will have a customer for life! Time will tell…
One thing that has changed from the original Breville machine I had is the water tank. I am not crazy about it being on the back of the machine. I find it difficult to reach your hand down in the tank for cleaning. Also, being on the back of the unit it is hard to see the water level. I loved the older model that had the wide box-like water tank in the center with the water level window you could see from the front. Just my opinion.
