Macy's Closing 150 Stores
Love shopping Macy's? Brace yourself…
If you're a Macy's shopper – you may be finding yourself doing your shopping online in the near future.  The retailer has announced that of it's 519 existing Macy's stores across the country, it will be shutting the doors to 150 locations.  They've announced that 55 of these are slated to go by the end of THIS year, while the rest will close over the months following. While the company has yet to announce which stores are on the chopping block, they've earmarked the stores that are underperforming to be the ones to go.
Their CEO Tony Spring explained that:
Macy's plans to revamp the merchandise they offer in the stores that will “go forward” to better meet changing shopping patterns amongst consumers. We aligned our assortments and shifted our marketing calendar to better balance value and fashion. We enhanced our promotions and delivered more targeted personalized messages across categories and brands. And, we invested in newness and proven areas of product strength while reducing our exposure to areas of softer demand.”
We always look forward to good value and strong promotions, so I'm interested to see what kinds of changes we'll find in the coming year.  See the most recent Macy's Deals we've posted, for some great bargains on home items!
