Lume Deodorant Review – Our HONEST Opinion

I have ALWAYS had such an issue finding deodorants that work for me. To top it off, I also have very sensitive skin, so I tend to get rashes and irritation from a lot of personal care products.
I was so excited a few years ago to give Lume Deodorant a try and even MORE excited when I found out how well it worked!
After trying nearly every deodorant you can buy in stores (plus alllll of their clinical versions too), crystal deodorants, other natural deodorants (like Native – the scents were good but it just didn't work well for me)… I was on the verge of talking to my doctor to get something prescription, but then I saw an ad for Lume.
I was spending between $10 and $13 trying every deodorant known to man and also spending extra money on “nice” detergent because of still having scent issues with my non-working deodorant. So I figured I had nothing to lose!
I'm going to be 100% honest – I absolutely LOVE Lume Deodorant.Â
When I first tried it, the scents weren't great. Just being truthful….. they didn't smell…. BAD, but they didn't exactly smell wonderful either.
(They've since done a WHOLE overhaul of their scents which I'll talk about in a bit!).
But – my oh my, that deodorant did work and it worked SO well!Â
Lume claims you can go 72 hours in between applications. I've never tried going that long, but it definitely does work for at least 24 hours.
Does Lume Stop Sweating?
I am a sweaty Betty and one issue I still had when I originally tried Lume is that I STILL sweat SO MUCH.
So I was SO excited to see they introduced their smooth cream deodorant that is whole body deodorant PLUS sweat control.Â
I ran SO FAST to grab a set. And I'm happy to report that it DOES in fact help with sweat control.
Lume Sweat Control Scents
Sweat control is now available in both the solid deodorant and in the smooth cream formation (but it really only takes about a pea sized amount).
Sweat control scents are Soft Powder, Clean Tangerine, Lavender Sage, and Unscented.  I tried the soft powder and it has a soft baby powder scent. I'm hoping they will soon release it in toasted coconut as that is by FAR (in my opinion!) the best Lume scent.
So…….What's the Best Lume Scent?
I mentioned that when I first bought Lume, the scent wasn't great. Lume heard customer reviews and recently did a complete overhaul of their scents! I must say, they are MUCH better now and I in fact really enjoy all the updated scents I've tried so far.
In my opinion, the BEST Lume scent is toasted coconut. Such great odor control and it reminds me of being on a beach!Â
There are quite a few other scents too – here's a ranking of my favorite scents 🙂
- Toasted Coconut -seriously so good!
- Clean Tangerine – this one is fresh but not overpowering
- Minted Cucumber – a light scent
- Sweet Peony – sweet and floral
- Lavender Sage – this one has a more subtle scent – more sage than lavender to me
- Fresh Alpine – like a fresh forest 🙂
- Soft Powder – baby powder fresh!
- Unscented – this one is for those that want all the benefits of odor control but aren't a fan of scented items

What Makes Lume Different Than Other Whole Body Deodorant?
First off, Lume is cruelty free. It doesn't use harsh ingredients that can cause rashes or irritate skin (like baking soda or aluminum).
It is also a deodorant that can be used ANYWHERE on your body. Your feet, your stomach, underarms, where your thighs crease – wherever you need a barrier to scent.  Lume was developed by a doctor and blocks bacteria from digesting fluids on your skin and prevents body odor from happening in the first place – it doesn't just cover it up!
I personally recently tried Secret Whole Body Deodorant as I was intrigued by a new product. It didn't work well for me and it also burned when I put it on – yikes! You might have a different experience, but I'll definitely be sticking with Lume.Â

I love all the cream products. I’m going to try the stick deodorant in coconut next time. I tried the tangerine in the soap and body deo. It was great for my creases and even helped keep them free of rashes.however I was not a fan of the smell it’s so faint I couldn’t smell it. The soaps are so lathering that they are hard to rinse off. I’m not a fan of the soap. But love love the body deo. So much I will continue to use. Thank you for developing a body deodorant. It has help with my fat folds under my stomach. And my thigh folds so much.

I started using LUME before there were tv commercials. I took 2 showers a day before using Lume products. I use unscented. Any body odor is gone. I will say it took about a week for me to see 100% results. No more body odor anywhere! The tube is most economical, and lasts over 6 months.
I also use and antiperspirant in the summer because I am a heavy sweater. These products have changed my life. I no longer worry about body odor!

I love Like I’ve used the body wash, cream stick, tube and solid stick. I started with the starter pack my favorite scents are:
1. Peony rose sweet and flowery
2. Clean tangerine fresh and fruity
3. Coconut very tropical
4. Soft powder light fresh scent
5. Minted cucumber light fresh for summer
Top 3 above my favorite body washed also keeps you smelling great for 24 hours plus. I love the mini deos for on the go to the gym travel etc.
I’m very active and keeps me smelling fresh and clean for over 24 hours for testing purposes.

I dislike the commercials for Lume that are on television. But I love the Lume deodorant! As a heavy woman, I often had moist, smelly areas under my breasts & stomach overhang, especially with physical activity. I had used baby powder for years to cut down slightly on the moisture, but it didn’t help the odor. I was amazed that just a tiny amount of the Lume deodorant cream stops the odor and even a lot of the excess moisture! I still use an antiperspirant on my underarms because I don’t like underarm sweaty moisture. One tube of the cream deodorant lasts me about 6 months with daily application. I have only used 2 scents and have liked them both (warm vanilla – discontinued, and clean tangerine). I didn’t really like the unscented.
This is not for me! I will stick to my Ban deodorant I hate the commercials and for those alone I will never buy this product!
