Here's what I grabbed at Sam's Club this week for $26.54 (missing from the picture is a bag of Fit Popcorn that I think my kids were already eating when I took the picture ~ it's so good!)Â
- 2 gallons milk $2.29
- Apple slices $3.98
- Fit Popcorn $4.98
- Beef Round Steaks $11.62
- Bananas $1.38
- Total $26.54
I feel so guilty about the apples (they're our family's not-so-penny-pinched purchase), but my kids love them and it's an easy way to get some extra fruit into them each day.  I know it's so much less expensive to get apples and slice them at home, but I have one very picky eater who refuses to eat the ones that I soak in juice (even though they don't turn brown!), so I give in and purchase those once every week or two. They eat them like candy!
And my son has been begging for some steak lately, so when I noticed the Beef Round Steaks at Sam's I grabbed those too – however I have no idea how to cook them or even if they're a decent cut of meat. Any suggestions on that would sure be appreciated. 😉
While I was there I also noticed these great gift card offers ~ if you regularly eat at a certain restaurant and have a Sam's Club Membership you might want to see what they offer at your store!
Curious about what I think is normally worth purchasing at Sam's Club? Go HERE to see my list ~ I'd love to hear what you think too!

Sliced fruit in juice—never heard of that. I have used Sprite, 7-Up, etc; not too much, as you don’t want the apple slices to be soggy. And of course, you know you can use lemon juice. See if your child likes the slices with the Sprite.

You can also dice the steaks, fry it up, and put some in a soft corn tortilla, cheese, and salsa. Yumm!

I grew up with round steak being one of my favorite comfort foods. My mother taught me to add favorite herbs/spices to flour then dust round steak with the mixture. Brown on both sides then turn down heat to simmer, add sliced onions to pan with a little beef broth. Simmer at least 45 min. to 1 hr. Serve with mashed potatoes and put some of the onions and juice on steak and potatoes.

*should say put meat in 9x 13.. not mean ! LOL

With the round steak.. i cube it, then dip in flour and quick brown on each side in a little oil, put the mean in a 9×13 make gravy in same skillet you browned it in. I use cream of mushroom and a can of beef broth.. I actually mix flour an milk in my nutri bullet so i dnt hve any lumps. and make my gravy by slowly pouring that in the pan that i fried the meat in then add the broth and mushroom soup.. bring to boil and pour over the meant and bake about an hour and a half.. or crock it til tender.. about 5 hours. Serve with rice or mashed potatoes and green beans or baby cooked carrots.

Round steak is very very much on the “tough” side. It does well to be cooked long and slow, such as in a crockpot. I use it routinely in the crockpot for Pepper Steak, Beef and Broccoli, Beef-Veggie soup, etc with great results. You can even make a beef stir-fry if you marinate the heck out of it first, slice it SUPER thin and cook it quickly. You can also make Swiss Steak with it in the oven, by pounding it to death first( or not..you don’t have to). Just bake it long and slow and use your favorite Swiss Steak recipe. Mine calls for tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, garlic, mushrooms and seasonings. It’s called Swiss Bliss. Can be served over rice or egg noodles. My favorite way to use round steak though, is the Beef and Broccoli recipe I was given a few years ago…it has the MOST delicious sauce with brown sugar in it…it is just heavenly!

Try soaking the apple slices in salted ice water. It keeps them from turning brown and gives a little bit of salty taste.
