Shannon and Laurie, Just this week at my Kroger in Decatur I was told that this particular store would only accept 2 printable coupons per shopping visit (not per item). This new policy was confirmed again this morning to a friend of mine when she stopped in to take advantage of the ongoing candy bar deal. Laurie, I know that you have only been using printables and so I am wondering if you have come across any roadblocks in Madison. It might be worth it from time to time to shop in Madison since our Kroger in Decatur is becoming so restrictive. I would classify myself as a seasoned couponer but certainly not extreme. I average about 60% savings. I am surprised that Kroger is so resistant to changing technology… it seems like retailers would have to embrace the growing number of printable coupons to stay competative. On a happy note, my Publix is awesome and we also have a new Walmart Neighborhood Market that is great for price matching. (It is a smaller version of walmart with only groceries… nice and new with a great produce department). Any thoughts on Kroger and printables?

I hate hearing that! I was at the Kroger on Hwy 72 and Jeff just yesterday shopping and used all printables for the P & G sale and had about 20 printables total. They did not say a thing to me. Last week when I did the candy bars they did limit me to 5 per item, but let me do 2 transactions to get all my M&Ms. Hopefully this is not something that will spread!

I’ve been racing around all day Peggy, and wanted to make sure I took enough time to respond to you! I hate that your store is doing that!!!
I have heard of other stores having the same issues (it seems like they almost change their policies on a whim?), however the store that I regularly go to has not ever questioned my printable coupons. Last week they did tell me I could only use 5 of the same printable coupon (I was buying all those candy bars and used 3 computers to print my coupons), but I thought that was reasonable.
However, I think the store and management at the store changes things a ton at Kroger, and I’m so surprised they’re not more consistent (and don’t help out couponers especially in areas where they have Publix as a competitor!) It might be worth shopping in Madison if you’re in the area (to be honest, I’ve had the best luck at the store on Leeman Ferry in Huntsville…. it’s right next to my daughter’s gymnastics and while it’s not fancy at all, they always have everything in stock because I don’t think anyone else coupons there!) I’m hoping Kroger will not continue to get worse ~ but it sure does make it hard to want to shop there when their policies seem to change so much. 🙁
