Have a yucky, dirty oven but hate cleaning it? These heavy-duty oven liners work wonders in the oven or grill and make clean-up a breeze!
Heavy Duty Oven Liners (keep your oven clean!)
Hi all – Mary with PPP here! (YIKES! Anyone else's oven look like this?!)
If you're looking for a way to keep your oven looking brand new (but are afraid to use the self-cleaning function on your oven), these Heavy Duty Non-Stick Oven Liners may do the trick for you!
A few months ago, I decided to try the self-cleaning function on my oven to give it a really good, deep clean…or so I thought. I made the mistake of not pulling off the aluminum foil that had been stuck to the bottom of my oven FIRST and thought the self-cleaning function would just “burn” it off.
Unfortunately, my poor little oven could not even handle the self-cleaning function at all and it burned out the fuses in my oven after just 30 minutes (it also crumpled up the aluminum foil and made it impossible to get off). Thankfully, my handy husband knew how to fix it and we were back up and running in a few hours. BUT – I'll definitely be hesitant to use that function on my oven in the future.
(Side note – has anyone else had this happen before?? I'm wondering what we did wrong?)
After scraping, cleaning, and wiping for what seemed like forever, my poor little oven still did not look as pretty as I wanted it to. It was much cleaner, but still had small bits of aluminum foil glued on.
SO, I turned to Amazon and figured I'd try these oven liners to “cover up” the remaining residue in my oven ~ and I was super pleased with how they made my oven look almost new again!
If you're looking to keep your oven a bit cleaner and make those annoying messes and spills a breeze to clean up, these may be just what you're looking for!

My self cleaning oven caught fire in cleaning mode.. fireman had to move oven outside
I have had self cleaning ovens since and have never used that feature again and never will
Repair people have said ovens aren’t meant to get that hot
Oh wow! So sorry to hear you had a bad experience cleaning yours. Thanks for letting us know!
I never use the function but I haven’t been with out some kind of liner for what seems like a life time. My mom used to find an aluminum one that fit the bottom of the oven but I’ve been using this kind for years. Also you can put them and on your racks so that keeps the racks clean and the bottom too.
A few years ago we used the self clean function on our oven. when it finished, my hubby got impatient and opened the oven door to let it vent and cool. After a little bit (but apparently not long enough) he intended to start wiping the ashes but dropped the wet sponge on the oven door glass and it shattered! The repair guy said never use the self clean function, it’s too easy to damage the electrical function (or other parts!) His advice was a cookie sheet with vinegar, oven on low temp, then wipe it out. After not having an oven for three months, we have just stuck to soap and water, thinking of trying the pink stuff.
Oh no Kelly ~ eeek! Good to know! 🙂
After burning out both of my ovens on the self cleaning feature my husband was able to fix one . We now use the Pink Stuff- love it!
I’m so happy you found something you love!
As a firefighter, we respond to SOOO many “I was using my self-cleaning oven’s cleaning cycle and…” calls! I’ll never ever use the self-clean function! You’re “lucky” it was only fuses you blew.
Oh wow! That is so interesting. Thanks for sharing!
I used the self cleaning function and it locked my oven closed and stayed that way. The tech that came out said you should never use the function as the extreme high heat required usually damages the oven. Go figure.
Same thing happened to me.
Oh no, Sarah!! I’m so sorry to hear that!
I accidently left the silicone grate covers in my oven when I did self cleaning. What a mess. I have a convection oven and the fan got covered I. Disintegrated soot. Took forever to clean. Had to take the whole thing apart especially the glass to clean. Won’t be using that feature again.
Eeek ~ so sorry to hear that Kate!
I had a similar issue…used self clean feature on my wall oven that is located in my center island. The control panel was damaged from the cleaning process which also left the door locked and my quartz countertop above the oven was cracked from the heat. The repair man who came to assess mentioned this self cleaning feature makes the oven reach such high temperatures that it happens more than people realize…I have yet to try it again on my new oven, I always just manually clean it for fear of another issue.
Oh no Lisa ~ so sorry to hear that!
The week before Thanksgiving I used the self cleaning function on my oven & fried the element on it so that the oven no longer worked. Our stove was 22 years old and showing plenty of wear, so instead of fixing the element (my husband is great with that stuff) we opted to buy a new stove. Has definitely made me hesitant to use that feature again!
In my former house, I attempted the self clean feature twice. Both times it broke my built in oven. I think there is not enough air flow when you have built in’s and it makes it too hot. The repairman told me to not use that feature any more after that.
In my new home I have yet to try self cleaning on my double ovens. I’m too worried that it will happen again.
I just use the overnight fume free oven cleaner to clean them.
