just letting you know I tried this at CVS yesterday and you can only use 1 of the cvs coupons, not 3 as shown. The register kicked it back and it does say “one per customer”.
I appreciate the comparison too and still need to grab a couple bags.

While it may not matter to many people, I actually do care about getting the very best deal on candy this time of year! I appreciate all the effort (and MATH) that went into this post. I would like to state, though, that while the per ounce price is one way to compare and try to get the best pricing, I like to look at the per PIECE price.

I “only” (haha) had four types of chocolate candy bags (which I consider the good stuff, not the cheap non-chocolate candies) in my house at this time. The weight of one piece of candy varied greatly as did the number of pieces per bag (after adjusting serving sizes down to only one piece). I had from 17 pieces a snack/fun size bag up to 24 per bag. Again, these are just with the snack/fun sized bags (all of my particular varieties were 10-12 oz).

Just another thing to consider when you are trying to pinch those pennies!

That’s awesome Jennifer! It did take a ton of time to figure out how to tell what was the best price. But I am such a coupon nerd I love doing it to see who wins! HA! This is the time I stockpile on my cooking candies (Snickers and Reese’s peanut butter cups). Looking at the pieces is a really good thing to consider! I still need to go buy more so I will make sure to look when I am buying it next time! Thanks again!!

LOVE the idea too of doing it per piece – I didn’t even think of that and was just so thankful Shannon did the math for us! My husband always gets some of the “good stuff” and lots of the not-go-good stuff (dum dums usually) to get the most number of pieces to hand out 🙂 Great suggestion!
