The slow cooker does all the work for this yummy Copycat Cracker Barrel Fried Apples Recipe.
Crockpot Fried Apples Recipe
With it being in that weird time of year where it can be warm during the day but SUPER chilly still at night, this Fried Apples recipe is the perfect cozy treat! It's a family favorite and the slow cooker does all the work (which is a bonus!).
We've been making this one a really long time and it really does taste like the fried apples at Cracker Barrel. In fact, I just noticed that I originally published this recipe way back in 2010. Thankfully my photography skills have improved a wee bit since then. 🙂
So, I'm giving this recipe a little facelift today and I hope you'll make this one for your bunch soon.
Ingredients for fried apples:
- apples – gala, green, or honeycrisp work best
- cornstarch
- brown sugar
- sugar
- ground cinnamon
- melted butter
- lemon juice
- vanilla extract
MENU TIP: This fried apples recipe is from our sides menu planning made easy set!
How to make fried apples in the crockpot:
Peel and slice apples and add to slow cooker. I have an apple/peeler/slicer similar to this one and it makes slicing apples fast and fun! I highly recommend one if you enjoy apple recipes like this one.
Toss in some cornstarch, and stir into the apples until well coated.
Stir in sugars, cinnamon, butter, lemon juice and vanilla.
Cover, and cook on high 2 hours.
Once done, stir well and serve.
If you want to serve these as a dessert I highly recommend topping with some vanilla ice cream! 🙂
