Crockpot Fried Apples Recipe

This Fried Apples recipe is the perfect cozy treat whenever you want a yummy comfort dish! It’s a family favorite and the slow cooker does all the work (which is a bonus!).

We’ve been making this one a really long time and it really does taste like the fried apples at Cracker Barrel. In fact, I just noticed that I originally published this recipe way back in 2010. Thankfully my photography skills have improved a wee bit since then. 🙂

MENU TIP: This fried apples recipe is from our sides menu planning made easy set

ingredients for fried apples recipe

Ingredients for fried apples:

  • apples – gala, green, or honeycrisp work best
  • cornstarch
  • brown sugar
  • sugar
  • ground cinnamon
  • melted butter
  • lemon juice
  • vanilla extract

How to make fried apples in the crockpot:

Peel and slice apples and add to slow cooker. I have an apple/peeler/slicer similar to this one and it makes slicing apples fast and fun! I highly recommend one if you enjoy apple recipes like this one.

Toss in some cornstarch, and stir into the apples until well coated.

Here’s what Grocery by PPP Members are saying about this recipe:

So easy to make and delicious! – Julie T.

Excellent. How the apples turn out will depend on how small you slice the apples, the variety of apple you use and how hot your cooker gets. I used gala and sliced into thick pieces. They came out with some bite to them, which we prefer. Use one of the varieties recommended and know how your cooker heats and it will turn out great. – Jessica M.

I to have been looking for a fried apple recipe like they make at Cracker Barrel. This one looks great, but do I have to use cornstarch to thicken it?
