Flip Flop Wreath DIY – So Easy and Fun!
Laura, here!
I love changing up my front porch and front door décor for every holiday and season. This year, I decided I wanted something totally summer for my door. This flip flop wreath is absolutely perfect – there is nothing that gives more summery vibes than some colorful flip flops! Today is also National Flip Flop Day, so it seems like no better time to whip this one up 🙂
Here's a quick tutorial on how to make this inexpensive and fun DIY flip flop wreath!Â
Flip Flop Wreath DIY Materials
- Inexpensive flip flops (I found these at the Dollar Tree. I was so surprised – they had a TON! Lots of fun colors and patters to choose from)
- Ribbon or twine
- Structure piece (I used a plastic ruler I had on hand, but a paint stick from the hardware store would be perfect!)
- Hot glue gun
- Fun embellishments
How to make a flip flop wreath
Flip your flip flops over (see what I did there?? 😉 ) and line up so the height is varied but the soles match as if you were walking. Use your structure stick (ruler, paint stick, spare wood, etc) and spread your hot glue across the back. Press firmly and hold into place on the back of the flip flops, making sure the sandals stay together and you don't have gaps.
Next, pull the circle out a bit from the top strap and tie your ribbon/twine around it into a knot. Cut off excess.
Finally, hot glue any fun embellishments to the front! I found these adorable summer-themed floral picks at Michael's that are the perfect amount of “extra” for the front without being too heavy.
How do you attach flip flops to a wreath?
The easiest method I found to attach the flip flops was hot glue!
If you want to make a traditional round wreath, grab a wreath form (either wire like these or foam). For a wire wreath, you can use zip ties or floral ribbon and wrap around the circles of the flip flop (where I tied the ribbon in this example) and attach to the wire. For a foam wreath, I'd go ahead and use hot glue again.
