Okay…. I have to tell you why as a penny pincher I made a crazy home planner (but most of all why I needed to do my fall closet cleanout this weekend)!
(Do you see that glorious empty shelf up there? I feel like I've won at all the things!)
Honestly, since we're finishing up the 2021 Home Planner Launch Week, I feel like I've been talked WAY TOO MUCH about this silly little home planner that I made for you. (Even though it's honestly 100% awesome . . . I do want to make sure you understand the method behind my madness! 🙂
As someone who's truly frugal, I've learned that when I've taken care of the things God has given me, I'm more thankful, less overwhelmed, and simply spend less money, because I care for and use the things I already have.Â
Before . . .Â
And as someone who seriously struggles with staying focused (maybe you do too?) having simple processes in place have been what's helped me manage my home for years.
After . . .
(I never really thought about this until this morning, but way back when my kids were little and I was overwhelmed, a little anxious, and struggled some with depression, my very first “system” I began was to wake up and exercise every morning. The change in my attitude and my days back then was huge.
So I created more systems in my head to manage my life. Over the years those “systems” have grown, and they're what turned into the crazy system of the Home Planner. It's simply a game changer to make the hard things in life happen on repeat, so that there's no more overwhelm)!
So this week on the planner was to organize our master bedroom closets for fall.
It took me about two hours.
I have a ton of great items that I'll donate to our local free store.
And my closet hasn't felt so happy since the last time I cleared it out.
Ready for my three reasons that every single penny-pinching-girl needs to clean out their closets today too?
(Yup, I'm talking to YOU sweet friend!)Â
1 – It doesn't take that long.
Truly. Give yourself two hours and you'll be glad you did.
1 – You probably have PLENTY more clothes in your closet than you think you do.
Go through, decide what you truly love, and get rid of the rest. You'll save money because you'll have a clear picture of what you really have on hand!
2 – You'll know exactly where all your stuff is.Â
Now that I know right where everything is, so I don't have to run out to buy one more thing because I've “lost” my favorite pair of leggings or most well loved workout shirt (I only have three favorite workout shirts, so if I lose one it's kind of a crisis around here!)
(I am thinking about upgrading my pjs 🙂 ~ but if I do I'll get rid of what I have for whatever I get new!)
3 –Â You may be able to re-sell your clothes and make a little moo-lah.
The internet has made selling gently used clothing so easy ~ most of our clothes go to Plato's Closet just because they make it simple, but you may be able to sell in local Facebook groups too.
(Note – my guess is selling on Facebook might not be as easy due to Covid, but I checked and it looks like Plato's Closet is accepting clothes in our area, so check with your local consignment store!)
I promise cleaning out your closets won't take as long as you think it will.
Truly. Give yourself two hours and you'll feel all prepared for fall
So there you have it.
If you're struggling with your finances, do not go buy a single thing this fall until your closet is in order.Â
For real.
Get rid of what you don't need.
And love on what you keep.
Let me know if you tackle your closet this week ~ I'm cheering for you!
P.S. If you need a planner to help get you organized, this one is so completely different than any other planner you've seen! Go HERE to learn more.
What is the closet system(drawers) you used? I’ve been pricing them out and they all seem expensive.
Thank you for always being encouraging!
