Egg Recall Alert — Check Your Cartons!

Heads up, friends!  A new egg recall has been announced, so if you’ve picked up eggs recently, you’ll want to double-check your fridge. On July 22, Midwest Poultry Services issued an egg recall of nearly 1.6 Million Dozen eggs due to possible Salmonella contamination — over 100 people have been infected so far, so please take a quick minute to see if any of these cartons look familiar before you crack another egg!

Midwest Poutry Services Egg Company Recall

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers, retailers, and distributors to not eat, sell, or serve certain WHITE SHELL EGGS and BROWN CAGE-FREE SHELL EGGS from Black Sheep Egg Company due to a potential Salmonella risk.

Brands:

  • Kroger, Brookshires, Simple Truth, Country Morning, and Generic Grade A Eggs

Sold At:

  • Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana
  • Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi
  • And other smaller retail outlets.
  • 12, 18, 30 and 60ct Cartons, depending on brand – see the full chart here

What to do: If your carton matches these details, toss it out immediately or return it to the store for a refund. Be sure to clean any fridge shelves or containers that touched the eggs with hot, soapy water.

General Safety Tips

  • Stop using any recalled or suspicious cartons immediately.
  • Do not cook or eat recalled eggs — even if they look or smell fine.
  • Wipe down refrigerator shelves, containers, or counters with hot, soapy water.
  • If you or a family member experience fever, nausea, diarrhea, or stomach cramps, contact a healthcare provider — symptoms can appear 12–72 hours after exposure.
  • Extra caution is needed for young children, older adults, or those with weakened immune systems.
