How to make Turkey in the Slow Cooker
To make the rub, combine all the spices and mix thoroughly in a large bowl. You'll have extra after this recipe so store in a dark, cool place in an air-tight container.
For the turkey, start by removing the giblets and giving your turkey a good rinse and dry. Grab your barbecue rub and cover the turkey inside and out, rubbing the spices into the skin and pushing some under the skin.
Place your chopped onion into the turkey cavity and stick the turkey into your slow cooker skin-side up.
Cover and cook on low 5-7 hours. Once it's done, let it rest and slice to serve.
How long do you cook a turkey breast?
You'll want to cook your turkey breast in the slow cooker on low 5-7 hours or until it reaches 165 degrees internal temperature. A meat thermometer like this one comes in handy for cooking poultry to ensure it's done without over cooking.
