I’m so stinkin’ excited to have a fun giveaway for you today! Passionate Penny Pincher just reached 20,000 Facebook fans (woohoooo!), which is just crazy to this penny pinching mom. As I’ve shared before, I’m really just a mom who loves to save money (and who got into this not knowing the slightest thing about writing, computers, or really even the internet . .  ), so the fact that so many folks have joined along the way is beyond crazy to me.

 

While I’m excited about those Facebook numbers, I’m even more excited because every so often I get an email letting me know that PPP has really helped someone. (Did I really just use the word excited four times in two paragraphs? Yikes.)  Yesterday I got this encouraging email from a reader who found PPP through Facebook, and it just made my day (well, maybe my week!) Here’s what this very sweet reader had to say . . .

 

I just wanted send a huge thank you for running such an amazing website! I lost my job a few months ago due to health problems and it was a huge shock. My husband and I just assumed we would always have my income, and we were woefully unprepared. I was struggling to budget our money (something I had never really done before) and pay all of our bills and feed us.

 

Then one of my facebook friends posted a link to your website and it really opened my eyes. I had never couponed before. Honestly, I rarely even looked at prices when I shopped. I never meal planned, and I always went to the store without a list.

 

Needless to say, I was wasting A TON of money. Now I check your website daily, I follow all of your tips, and I shop smart. Your website has helped me cut my weekly grocery bill by probably 80%.

    I save all the time using the information you post on PPP! Recently, I got a free meal from your post about Panda Express. It was right when Federal government employees were furloughed due to the government shutdown and I also was able to get a coupon for my husband.     I have not followed your PPP long, but since I have…I have printed numerous coupons to help me save $$$. I live in a rural town, so I don't have a lot of stores around me. But my two favorite coupons was $2 off Revlon make up I use. As well as $2 off of big bags of Halloween Candy….which are onsale now at Shopko by us for $7.88 minus the $2…..$5.88 For candybars for trick or treaters instead of tootsie rolls, which I usually do.

    I’ve saved on lots of things, but probably the most useful deals for me have been the fast food deals, like Jamba Juice coupons and the Amazon deals on Legos. Both things I use to treat my dear daughter without feeling too guilty about it.

Even when they are for things I don’t need, I donate them and it really stretches my tithe! I also love all of the Target coupon match-ups.     One thing I have saved on.. You have helped me save on so… many things.. but one would be diapers. I use to buy the store brand of diapers even though I loved Huggies.     Ugly divorce, no child support given as ex lied in court. I have used the recipes the most to figure out what is on sale or free, some work better than others. I have a hungry 16 yr old son, and I am able to save on the cost of groceries, especially body wash which I will never pay full price for again. If I find a great deal I will stock up on those items. After the Colorado floods, with all the coupons and deals I had a really nice stockpile of personal grooming products. I was able to donate a large box to the evacuation center that would have cost over $200 without coupons or sales.
