Frozen Meals from Trader Joe’s, Walmart Recalled for Listeria

Check your freezers – a recent recall has become even more serious as 4 are now dead, 19 hospitalized for Listeria contamination!    The contaminated items are in refrigerated Heat & Eat meals sold at Trader Joe’s and Walmart.  You may have them stored in your freezer since their best-by dates are up.  Here are the meals you need to check your freezer for:

Marketside linguine with beef meatballs and marinara sauce

  •  Sold at Walmart in 12-ounce trays
  • Best if used by dates of: Sep. 22, 24, 25, 29, 30 and Oct. 1 of 2025
  • The CDC first recalled this item in June.

Trader Joe’s Cajun style blackened chicken breast fettucine alfredo

  • Sold at Trader Joe’s
  • Best if used by dates of: Sept. 20, 24 and 27
  • The CDC updated its recall to include the product in late September.
NOTE: These are no longer being sold in stores at this time, but you may have moved them to your freezer to prolong their best-by date.

Here’s What To Do If You Bought These Items:

  1. Check your freezer immediately for the recalled meals
  2. Do not eat it. Toss it away or return to the store for a refund.
  3. Talk to your doctor if you think you may have eaten contaminated food – listeria is particularly harmful to people over 65, pregnant or immuno-compromised.

The FDA has placed BMS Foods on an import alert, blocking future shipments until the contamination issue is resolved. U.S. regulators are also working with Indonesian officials to determine how radioactive shrimp ended up in the supply chain in the first place.

If you’ve got Great Value frozen shrimp hiding in your freezer, check those lot codes, toss the shrimp, and head to Walmart for your refund — unless you were hoping for superhero power
