Looking for a great dress that isn’t too low, fits comfortably, and makes you feel like you’ve got exactly the right thing to wear, all summer long? This one’s it!

I saw it on an ad and was completely influenced (so it’s a little pricier than one I normally like to pay for a dress), but it is so so good that I decided to snag it anyways.

Hint: this one from Amazon is less and has decent reviews. I don’t love it quite as much, but definitely a more penny pinched alternative!

It’s lined around the hips, isn’t too low at the neckline, the buttons and sleeves land in just the right spots to be flattering, and honestly, I really really like it.

I normally don’t spend quite so much on a dress (I’m hoping it’ll go on sale soon!), but you can use the following codes to get an extra 15% off today PLUS, sign up for their Rewards Club and you’ll get free shipping, too!

It fits a little on the big side (I ordered a medium and had to swap it out for a small – for sizing I’m 5’7″ and 145 pounds if that helps)! Here’s how to get the best deal on this one if you’re interested:

Visit Gibsonlook and add the dress to your cart (size down if you’re between sizes)

  • Use the 15% off code THANKS15 or GIBSONLOOK15
  • Sign up for their Rewards Club (free shipping)
  • Pay around $84 shipped for a pretty great dress I bet you’ll wear for the next few years. Not too shabby!

So my question for you is ~ is it worth it to sometimes pay a little more for quality? Do you sometimes splurge? Let me know what you think about this one, and if you think it’s worth it. I think I’ll wear this one for many summers to come so I’m pretty pleased with it, but if we find out it goes on sale, I’ll be the very first to let you know! 🙂

While it is VERY adorable on you, I just was looking around yesterday and found several equally pretty dresses of a similar style on Amazon for no more than half that price, so that’s a really hard no for me. I only pay that much for dressy dresses, usually for a special occasion. I found one that I actually think would look fabulous on you for under $14 and almost bought it until I looked again at the fact that the style would only emphasize how all my bulges are at exactly the wrong place for the cut. That said, while it definitely doesn’t fit with the Penny Pincher philosophy, it is absolutely very flattering on you, and since you have the room in your budget, absolutely keep it if you feel great in it. Do, however, take a good look at all the seems, consider what kind of care it requires, and be sure it won’t be too much trouble to keep it looking great or be likely to pull apart at any stress points. Cost does not always equal good quality in materials or workmanship.

Thank you for the feedback Vickie! I LOVE so many Amazon dresses, but they often land a little too low or just at the wrong spot (BUT, we’ll always be all for less expensive Amazon dresses here!) I’m hoping it will go on sale because that would definitely be more fun and agree totally that you can get super cute (awesome quality!) things for less money for sure.Thank you for your honest feedback!

My personal algorithm for clothing cost directly relates to how much use I’ll get out of it. As a weekly churchgoer, I always ask if it’s one I could comfortably wear to church. Would I wear it to meet friends at a coffee shop? Do I actually feel comfortable enough to grab it out of my closet? Is it a classic style that I’ll wear for many years or is it “fast fashion” that is super trendy this year but will feel dated next?

Really cute dress, looks great on you. Would look great with a turquoise necklace! Also would try with a navy blur belt and navy blue necklace and some strappy sandals.Have a peaceful summer!

I love the idea of adding a turquoise necklace (I never know how to style things, and the belt and sandal ideas are awesome too!) Thanks for commenting Christine – such good ideas! 🙂
