Here's what I grabbed tonight for $9.49 at Earth Fare! One of my girls does gymnastics near our local Earth Fare, so I figured while my youngest and I were out and about waiting for her class to finish, we'd swing by Earth Fare and to pick up a free Thursday night kids meal. It worked out great, because I wasn't all that hungry (my husband and I had the yummiest lunch date), so I just picked up a wrap to save for tomorrow's lunch!
To get Earth Fare's free kids meals on Thursday nights, you just need to spend $5 on an adult meal in the deli/restaurant area. The kids meals include most of what you see above (a very small portion of fruits and veggies and water bottle, plus they were giving out free trail mix which my daughter is going to save for snack at school tomorrow.) Here's what we bought:
- Earth Fare Chicken Salad Wrap (I did just a bite tonight ~ it was delicious!) $6.49
- Earth Fare American Cheese ~ free after coupon (regularly $4.99)
- Earth Fare Organic Carrots ~ $1 after coupon (regularly $2.49)
- Enerigize Artize Bread $2 after coupon (regularly $4.99)
- Water Bottle, Slice of Pizza, Snack Mix, Fruits and Veggies for Kids Meal ~ free after coupon
- Total: $9.49 . . . not too bad, considering the cost of the bread and cheese alone at Earth Fare would normally cost that much!
Be sure to sign up for Earth Fare’s Welcome Home program and get a coupon for a FREE Whole Chicken or pack of Veggie Burgers, and see all the best Earth Fare deals this month at Savings Lifestyle.

I don’t think I am going to be able to do as well down South. I already called the Whole Foods in the area we are going to be moving and they don’t take competitor coupons ugh. Columbus is so ultra competitive. We have two Whole Foods, an Earth Fare, and now Giant Eagle has two Market District stores which is Organic and regular food. Oh well, tradeoff for a slower way of life :). Everything is very regional for organic food shopping based on competition.
At least our future property taxes will be way lower!

By the way…just plus plug in to an engine search (wall street journal whole foods competition) and the article comes up if that other link doesn’t work for you.

I think having competition is the absolute best thing for any stores we shop as far as deal hunting. Like you, I was SHOCKED at the prices on some of their “sale” items (I even took pictures but didn’t have time to get them posted.) Honest Kids Drinks were $3.50 (I think I got them for maybe $.50 at Publix this week?) and it was all I could do not to stop a mom who was paying a whopping $4.29 for Simply Orange Juice that even Publix carries for $1 less without a sale.
I love that they have options for unique foods, and when my mother-in-law who eats a gluten free diet is coming to visit I definitely appreciate all they carry (and can usually find a few deals between their sales and coupons), but goodness, when people are buying the same things there that they can buy less expensively at the grocery store I’m simply shocked. Love that you can do so well at Whole Foods (and wish we had one here!)

Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal the other day about the competition in the organic foods market. I thought the analogy to rent a shopper reminded me of Earthfare. There prices are so darn high on everything outside there coupon promotions. It makes it so tops I ever spend in there is around $20 and like what you did only when I can combine it with a trip in the area of the store. I am glad they are doing those things though because it is making Whole Foods compete more. In my market at Whole Foods my strategy revolves around a Friday shopping trip. It is the day of the week that catches three sales overlapping…the weekly sale, the Friday one item sale, and the weekend items sale combined with a competitor coupon. I also use the gift card competitor coupon out of the entertainment book. I generally save 50% at Whole Foods off their top line prices. I have a good relationship with the managers. I don’t think they have any customers like me so they enjoy my shopping strategies plus they treat my kids like gold. Whole Foods has awesome customer service.
