Ingredients for Pumpkin Spice Latte
- Milk of your choice (dairy or non-dairy)
- Pumpkin puree
- Pumpkin pie spice
- Vanilla extract
- Sugar or sweetener
- Brewed coffee
How to make a homemade pumpkin spice latte
You'll need hot, brewed coffee for this so start a pot or make sure there's some already brewed. Add the hot coffee to about 1/3 of your coffee cup.
Start by combining milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, and pumpkin spice in a small saucepan or microwave-safe measuring cup. You'll heat this mixture until it reaches about 150°F (hot but not too hot). On the stove this is about 5 minutes on medium-high; in the microwave this is about 2 minutes.
Once it's heated, add the vanilla extract and either whisk or use a handheld frother to get the mixture nice and bubbly.
Pour this mixture over your brewed coffee. Top with whipped cream and some extra pumpkin spice, if you like!

Is the coffee necessary in this recipe? I like pumpkin spice lattes, do I just replace the coffee with tea? Not really sure what all Starbucks puts in their lattees.

You could certainly try replacing the coffee with chai tea, you may just have to adjust the sweeteners to your liking. Let us know if you give it a try! 🙂
