This morning my friend Shannon and I spoke with the Madison County Homemakers Club about couponing, and they taught us a thing or two! Â I thought you guys would enjoy these two fun facts:
1) Have a big spill on your carpet? Â Grab a diaper! (Yes, really!) Â The product inside the diaper will absorb the spill, and pick up most of the liquid. Â (I'm going to start requesting those free diaper samples just to have a few extra on hand . . . )
2) If you have an injury, feminine pads work well to easily to absorb blood.  (I never would have thought of that!)  So, all those free Carefree pantyliners would make a great addition to your First Aid kit! 🙂
Who knew? Â Do you have any other odd uses for common items in your pantry? Â I'd love to hear them! Â (And, thanks Madison Homemakers for hosting our class!)

This reminds me of that Walmart commercial where the couple has dinner at a friend’s house and knock over a pitcher of lemonade or something like that and they use their baby’s diapers to blot up the liquid that spilled on the rug. The link to the youtube video is http://youtu.be/bLsG7U5MoiM Really funny & cute!
Just watched the video 🙂 so cute Pat!
We keep a few diapers in our Hurricane kit! My dad has used them for years for bandages on horse legs too!
That’s a great idea – I can’t believe it never even occurred to me!
this is for people who cloth diaper: don’t throw away stained t-shirts/undies/socks. I cut them up and use them as diaper liners! That way, when Mr. Isaac poops, I just lift the liner out, and throw it away. It’s free, and I don’t have to dunk my diapers.
and regular prefolds (cloth diapers) make excellent spill catchers, too. 🙂
Great idea Tracy – I cannot imagine cloth diapering but LOVE that you’re doing it, and that would definitely make cleanups easier (plus I wouldn’t feel so guilty throwing those old t-shirts & stuff away!)
When my husband had a skin cancer removed from his forehead, we used mini pads for a bandage under medical tape. We had lots of them, and the big bandages at the drugstore were expensive!
Wow Sheri – I never would have thought of that! (But it makes sense!)
