There is nothing I love more than a DIY that is easy, budget-friendly, and my whole family totally loves, too. If you've got kids (or heck, if you just love Disney yourself!), this is such a fun Christmas craft that you can use year after year.
Here's how to make this sweet Mickey Mouse wreath for Christmas!
We’ve rounded up some of the best Dollar Tree Christmas decorations available this year.
Supplies needed
You can grab ALL of these supplies right at your local Dollar Tree!
- Large metal wreath frame (the one I grabbed is 18″ diameter)
- Two-pack small metal wreath frames (I used 8″ diameter frames)
- Pine garlands (I used 5) or your favorite tinsel if you want to give it a fun, metallic flair!
- Zip ties
- Small and large plastic round ornaments
- Glue Gun
- Optional – Decorative Bow (I think the bow makes it more Minnie Mouse so you can pick!)
How to make a Mickey Mouse Wreath
To start this craft, the first thing you want to do is zip tie the mickey mouse “ears” to the “face” of the wreath.
I used two zip ties to attach the small metal wreath frame to the large metal frame, and then repeated it for the other ear. Then, I trimmed the excess zip tie plastic.
Next, I used some hot glue to secure the pine garland to the metal wreath and started wrapping around the entire Mickey frame. I ended up using FIVE garlands to wrap all the way around, and each time one of my garlands ended, I just used my glue gun to add another garland onto the frame right where I left off.
Now you have a green Mickey Mouse wreath! To make it a Minnie Mouse, just add a bow! Hot glue the big red bow to the top of the wreath in between the “ears”.
Finally, I decorated the wreath by gluing the small and large red ornaments all around the wreath. This is the part where it really starts to look festive!
I just love how it turned out, and I love that it was so easy to make, no special tools needed! My kids are absolutely thrilled to have one of their favorite characters on the door greeting us.
Once Christmas is over, a winter wreath is the perfect switch from this red and green look.
