American Flag Pretzels
These little chocolate American flag pretzels are the cutest sweet + salty snack for the Fourth of July! They’re so easy to make – just a few ingredients and a couple steps and you’ve got a patriotic dessert to take to your July 4th festivities.
Not only are these adorable, they’re also so tasty! I used yogurt-covered pretzels that are a family favorite for us, but you can also dip your own pretzels in white chocolate if you prefer.
These are so fun at a picnic or even a little surprise snack for the kids at the pool. Here’s how to make them!

Ingredients
There are just 4 simple ingredients needed to make this snack:
- Yogurt or white chocolate covered pretzels (or make your own using melted white chocolate and your favorite pretzel shape)
- Red candy wafers
- Blue candy wafers
- Star sprinkles (I used this set and separated out the white ones. I wasn’t able to find a package of just white stars!)
Note – instead of candy wafers, you can use white chocolate and food coloring (or natural food dyes like blue spirulina and strawberry powder).

How to make American Flag Pretzels
If you’re dipping your own pretzels in white chocolate, do this first and let them harden completely in the fridge for about an hour.
Lay out all the pretzels on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Melt the red candy wafers and transfer to a squeeze bottle. I used a tiny kitchen funnel for this and it worked perfectly! The squeeze bottle really gives you the best control for drizzling the red stripes onto the pretzel, but you can always just use a fork or spoon for this.
Carefully drizzle stripes back and forth across the tops of every pretzel. Then, pop in the fridge and let harden completely. If you move on too soon, the red may bleed into the blue so give yourself a little time for this step.

Next, melt the blue candy wafers and place in a small bowl. Dip the top left corner of each pretzel into the blue and let the excess drip off.
Lay on the parchment sheet again. While the blue is still warm, place the star sprinkles. I ended up just doing this by hand because trying to gentle “sprinkle” my sprinkles turned into a bit of a glob 😉
Let everything harden once more in the fridge and serve!

How to store chocolate-dipped pretzels
The best part about this snack is you can make it a day or two in advance! Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Because these do have a yogurt and candy coating that can melt in the heat, I’d recommend keeping them chilled until serving so the stripes don’t get mushy or melt.
