Celebrating a birthday is a big deal for kids (and often grownups too!) For families struggling financially a birthday can feel like just another day, but an act of kindness (Like this birthday cake kit) can bring joy and a fun surprise!
These DIY birthday cake kits are easy to put together with Dollar Tree items, and you can drop them off at your local food pantry for families coming in for staples. They contain everything needed for a classic birthday cake (The soda takes the place of egg and oil). You may even want to add in some extra “birthday party” touches for the recipient like balloons, streamers, or a birthday card.
Here’s how to make a birthday in a box:
- Hefty Foil Pan

I volunteer at a food pantry: it’s never that we are ungrateful but the need for real proteins is so much more than cake kits.
