What is Pickleball?

In a nutshell, Pickleball is a paddleball sport played on a badminton-sized court with a tennis-style net that combines the elements of badminton, ping-pong, and tennis all in one. The sport can be played both indoors or outdoors and enjoyed by ALL ages and skill levels (from young kids to senior adults!).

Pickleball is a fun social activity and sport that allows you to work on your agility, balance, reflexes, and hand-eye coordination without putting too much strain on your body. It is a fantastic alternative for folks who may have physical limitations such as knee, shoulder, hip, or other joint problems!

Pickleball Rules

Pickleball is easy to learn and fun to play! The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

It is played either as doubles with two players per team (most common) or singles with one player per team. Below are the five basic rules of Pickleball, but you can find a complete set of rules and terminology (and a bunch more helpful information!) at the USAPickleball.org website:

1. The ball must stay in bounds.
2. There should be one bounce per side.
3. Serving must be done at the baseline.
4. The serve can’t land in the no-volley zone.
5. The game ends at 11, 15, or 21 points.
