Wondering how Audible works and whether it’s actually worth the cost? As someone who’s listened to countless audiobooks over the years, I’m sharing exactly how Audible works, what you get with each membership plan, and some of my favorite tips for getting the most value from your subscription!
How Does Audible Work? (And Why I’m Still Obsessed With It)
UPDATE – This appears to still be working for some! If you’re not seeing it the first time, try clicking this 3-4 times and it may appear.
Thinking about trying Audible? Right now is an amazing time to give it a test drive! For a limited time, Amazon Prime members can score a FREE $20 Audible Credit + THREE FREE MONTHS of Audible Standard (a $47 total value!). After the promotional period ends, the membership is just $8.99/month and can be canceled anytime.
One of the biggest changes Audible has made recently is introducing a lower-priced membership option that’s perfect for casual listeners. The Audible Standard Plan costs just $8.99/month (compared to $14.95/month for Audible Premium Plus) and includes one audiobook selection each month along with access to Audible Originals and a huge library of podcasts.
Prime member? Grab 3 FREE months of Audible Standard + a $20 Audible Credit while this offer lasts!
Note that this offer may vary by account, but here’s what a lot of us are seeing…if you’re not, try clicking this link a few times and see if you get it.
What’s included? Your membership includes one audiobook selection every month, plus access to a growing collection of podcasts, Audible Originals, and other included content. Whether you’re walking the dog, tackling chores around the house, commuting to work, or squeezing in a workout, Audible makes it easy to fit more reading into your day.
Audible Plans:
Audible Standard – $8.99/month includes one audiobook selection per month plus access to Audible Originals and a library of podcasts.
Audible Premium Plus – $14.95/month includes access to the Audible Plus Catalog, member discounts, and one audiobook credit per month to redeem and keep permanently.
Personally, I use my Audible account almost daily (I have the Premium Plan). It’s helped me “read” more books than ever before, even during my busiest seasons of life. I listen while walking, folding laundry, driving, and even grocery shopping. If you’ve been curious about audiobooks, this is one of the best opportunities I’ve seen to give Audible a try without a big commitment. 🙂
I genuinely think you’ll love it – and with three free months to test it out, there’s never been a better time to see what all the hype is about!

I was just looking at the different membership options. With the new $8.99 a month you cannot get access to the deals/sales like you can with any other plan. Frustrating. I have been a member for a while as well. I don’t use my credits as fast as I would like so I just changed to the every other month credit which still allows you to use the Plus catalog.
There is also a new Audible option – $17 every other month, with 1 credit every other month, and continue having access to the PLUS catalog. I use the PLUS catalog regularly, but would love an occasional splurge on a current bestseller, so its the perfect fit for me.
