How To Etch Glass & A Fun Frugal Gift (The Friday Fluff Up)

I know I say it every week, but *this* just might be my favorite Friday Fluff Up project. 🙂 I’m scooting out to go with some friends to enjoy Under the Christmas Tree (a Christmas tradition for folks in the North Alabama area), so I’m hoping the pictures will do most of the job showing what I did . . .

Here’s what you’ll need:

glass jar (find them at Walmart or on Amazon)
Etching cream (this was a little pricey, but one bottle will last you forever)
something to “stencil” your letters ~ I use a Silhouette Cameo or Cricut cutter and cut out the letters with vellum, but you could easily pick up any stickers at Michaels or Hobby Lobby and then just cut out the outside ~ it literally would cost just a few dollars!)

Cut around your letters to make a stencil for the etching cream

Paint the inside of your stencil – let dry. (I was worried that one coat wasn’t enough, but I think it was fine!)

Wait to peel off the stickers – I did have a little etching cream around the edges of my words but was able to rub that off.

I’m planning to give this to one of my sister-in-law whose birthday is right at Thanksgiving. She’s a physician, and runs at a crazy schedule, so I’m including my favorite recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies (they’re the best), as well as all the ingredients she’ll needs besides eggs to make them. (She doesn’t check PPP all that often, so hopefully she won’t see this gift ~ if you know her help me keep the secret!) 😉

Her kids will be coming home from college for Christmas, and I thought this way she’d have everything she needed to bake cookies right at home! Here’s what I’m including . . . (great to stock up on these items while they’re on sale for the next 8 weeks!)
