Shibumi Beach Shade Promotion
Jamie here! I was at the beach on vacation this past week and all we saw, as far as the eye could see, was a sea of shibumi shades dotting the beach in both directions.
Our three hastily-bought beach umbrellas collapsed in the wind, so on the drive home I started researching the popularwind-powered beach shades for next year.
OUCH.
The Shibumi Shades are PRICEY!!! (Though there is a 10% OFF eCoupon on Amazon right now, dropping the price to as low as $265)
Pros: extremely light and portable, easy to setup and provides lots of shade as long as there's a wind
Cons: high price point, may not work well on days without a breeze
Here are a few lower-priced alternatives that are big hits on Amazon as well – but we'd love to hear YOUR favorite beach shade!
5 Shibumi Shade Alternatives
Alycaso Wind-Powered Beach Shade– From $158
This beach shade is very similar to the Shibumi, however it has additional anchors to be able to set it up in non-windy conditions. It's also about half the price of the Shibumi!
Pros: extremely portable (under 5lbs), big 150′ shade area, works in non-windy conditions
Cons: some users reported having difficulty setting it up with instructions – others had none
Million Shades Beach Shade– From $197
This beach shade is wind-powered like the Shibumi, but about $100 less AND is larger, giving over 200 ft of Shade coverage! (vs 150 with Shibumi)
Pros: portable, bigger 200′ shade area, taller headspace
Cons: 9lbs, so about twice as heavy as Shibumi, may not work in less windy conditions, still pricey
Pop-Up Beach Cabana– from $59.99 (Varies by color/pattern)
This beach shade is so cute and under $60 in select colors – perfect for just a small family and their gear!
Pros: lower price point, only 4.5lbs so easy to carry, easy setup with sandbags
Cons: some reviewers said the plastic broke in high winds, size is meant for only 2-3 people
Sun Ninja Beach Shelter – from $95.99
This beach shade doesn't rely at all on the wind and gets stability from filling the fabric pockets with sand and stretching them away from the poles. Reviewers love the easy setup!
Pros: no reliance on wind, easy 1-person setup, portable, less than half the cost of a Shibumi
Cons: some reviewers say theirs blew over in strong wind, still pricey
NOTE: Here's a better deal on this 10×10′ canopy by a different brand!
Gorich Beach Tent– from $42.49
This beach tent varies in price as you change sizes but comes with lots of perks like a sand mat, windows, pockets, sandbags and a little privacy. Great for nursing moms!
