My sweet husband took me out to dinner last night for our very belated anniversary (it was last month), and we were both so excited to go to PF Chang's as we usually love their food. (And I was excited because I had this $10/$40 coupon to use!) So, when we looked over the menu and saw the “four course meal for two for $39.99”), we knew we were all set.
We ate lettuce wraps (yum!)
Egg Drop Soup (he actually tried the spicy soup but didn't like it ~ our very sweet waiter returned with a salad instead)
Mongolian Beef and Honey Chicken
And some kind of delicious peanut butter dessert . . . it was good.
However, neither my husband or I ever order that much food (in fact a lot of times I'll get a kids meal), and by the end of the meal we were both absolutely stuffed ~ even though we had quite a few leftovers boxed up.
Then we handed the waiter our $10/$40 coupon (planning to give him a tip on the total price pre-coupon of course!) It was still an expensive meal for us (more than we really ever spend), but we were okay with that.
Until, the waiter came back with the coupon and said he couldn't use it on the Dinner for Two because it was a “special”.
I read through the fine print, and sure enough it said it couldn't be used on any special offers, however I never even thought about a dinner for two priced at $39.95 as a “special”. (That's half our family's weekly grocery budget on one meal ~ yikes!)
My frustration was not at all about the $10 ~ it really was just $10 and the waiter actually gave us another $10 off gift card to use the next time we're there. We were both just disappointed because we ate entirely too much (in fact, James called me this morning from work and we both whined about how full we still were. . .), while we could have ordered an appetizer and one dish and have had more than enough for half the cost.
Did I mention ugh?
Oh well, lesson learned, right? Next time we'll ask about the coupon ahead of time, and I'm pretty sure neither of us will need dinner for a week.
(On the bright side, Bath & Body Works was having a great sale and I got all of these full size lotions for $2.75 each ~ I stocked up for a few Christmas Gifts! And James even took me to Kroger for a few bargains on the way home, so it's all good.) 😉
