Okay, so not only have I never made a ham, I have only rarely made a turkey. This turkey recipe looked so easy though, and the reviews were great, so this will be a fun week of firsts at our house! I'm going to stick the turkey in the crock pot in the morning, then add cheap green bean Steamers, free gravy, & BOGO Stove Top for dinner. Let me know what you think!
5 slices bacon

1 (5 1/2 pound) bone-in turkey breast, skin removed
The comments on All Recipes said they used a small whole turkey, so that's what I'm going to try since they're $.69 per lb. – I'm going to look for a pretty small one, but I'll ask the nice meat manager for help!
1/2 teaspoon garlic pepper
1 (10.5 ounce) can turkey gravy
Use McCormick Gravy Mix mixed ahead of time – BOGO .99¢-$.50/2; $.50/1; $1/4; $1/2 from 11-01-09 RP
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried sage
Place bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat, and cook until evenly brown. Drain and crumble.
Spray a slow cooker with cooking spray. Place turkey in the slow cooker. Season with garlic pepper. In a bowl, mix the bacon, gravy, flour, Worcestershire sauce, and sage. Pour over turkey in the slow cooker.
Cover slow cooker, and cook turkey 8 hours on Low.
Stove Top Stuffing BOGO $1.69
McCormick Gravy BOGO $.99
$.50/2; $.50/1; $1/4; $1/2 from 11-01-09 RP (I didn't find these in the North Alabama insert, but they were in the one's my dad sent from Louisville, KY – hope you can find them!)
It'll feel like Thanksgiving a little early at my house, but I'll save the turkey to use in soups & casseroles, so I'm sure all that meat won't go to waste!
Update to Post – I cooked this turkey and it was so yummy, but there was no way it would fit in my crockpot. Instead I cooked it for about 6 hours at 275 in a covered roasting pan and it was so big it literally was poking out of the pan. It was very good though and the meat was not as dry as other turkeys I've had. I did pat it with butter & occasionally baste it throughout the day. Hope it works for you!
