Re-Purposed Oatmeal Canister Turns Into Headband Holder

If you’ve hung out much on Pinterest lately, I’m betting you’ve seen this simple project that I tried out last week with a few friends (thanks Susan and Misty!) It turned out so cute and was easy to make!  Create this simple headband holder to keep up with all your daughter’s headbands by using just an ordinary oatmeal or coffee canister and a wooden candle stick.

  • Coffee or oatmeal canister (make sure it’s the right width for your child’s headbands)
  • Candlestick (I found these in the wood craft area at Michael’s for $2.99, be sure to use your Michael’s or Hobby Lobby coupon!)
  • scrapbook paper to cover canister
  • spray paint for candle
  • hot glue gun

  1. Cut the paper to fit the canister.  Cover canister with paper and use glue gun or spray adhesive to attach.
  2. Spray paint candlestick.
  3. Attach candlestick to canister using glue gun.
  4. All done!

I’m a little worried about how well it will hold up (it’s not super sturdy), but for my $3 investment I figure even just getting a few months use out of it will be fine. . . and it was such fun to make!  We also spent the morning letting our kids create a few crafty projects of their own, which was a great way to enjoy a summer day with a bunch of rowdy kids who needed some diversion.  If you have a free day this summer check out loads of inexpensive crafts on Pinterest, grab a few friends and start a Pinteresting Day! 🙂

I’d love for you to join me over on Pinterest (I love that place!)  If you have a blog and have done a little fluffing in your home, I’d love to see it, so leave your link in the comments section. Also, if there’s a craft you’ve seen on a website that you’re hoping to make, feel free to share that link as well (I’m always looking for new ideas!)   See more previous Friday Fluff Up projects and ideas . . . and Happy Fluffing!
