The Friday Fluff Up: Cleaning Out The Freezer

The days of accomplishing an amazing craft or huge project in my home may never return (at least through four more weeks of summer), so I’m still sticking with a few tiny accomplishments each week at our house.  Yesterday I managed to clean my oven (thanks to all your great tips along with a brillo pad & some elbow grease!), as well as get my freezer cleaned out . . . WOOHOO!

I know, it’s really, really sad when tackling those two monsters is all that exciting, but if you have three little monsters running around your house, I’m sure you understand. 🙂

Here’s what the freezer looked like before . . .

And here’s the after picture . . .

What was most exciting was finding lots more food in there than I realized I had, including a ton of bananas perfect for banana bread making, as well as a few loaves of bread dough to make these Almost Homemade Cinnamon Rolls So, here’s what I baked this morning to clean out that freezer a little more . . .

We have just a regular side by side freezer to store all of our stockpile in, but we seem to do okay without a large freezer. . . I just can’t justify the expense (and space!) that a larger freezer would bring.  Even us passionate penny pinchers can make it just fine without a huge storage space for frozen food!

Have you done any organizing or a fun craft project at home this week? I’d love to hear about it, so leave a comment to share!  See more previous Friday Fluff Up projects and ideas . . . and Happy Fluffing!

  1. Lori davidson says:

Something happened with our freezer and I lost all my stockpile. Today. 🙁

    • Oh nooooooo, Lori! That happened during our tornadoes here, and I think it made me really consider how much I keep in the freezer. Some insurance companies will pay for the amount of food in your freezer, it’s probably not worth the claim, but if you have a huge stockpile it might be worth looking into! (I’m so sorry!!!)

  2. on that note….VERY important to have one of these…. a inexpensive FREEZER ALARM can save you SO much heartache! a MUST HAVE for any stockpiler!
