Simple {Un-Pinterested} Christmas Decorating

After sharing just how much a mess I am yesterday, I figured you all would be totally fine (and gracious!) with me if I share my very un-Pinworthy Friday Fluff up today. My sister-in-law is stopping by this evening and this poor bowl has been left unfluffed since Thanksgiving, so I spent exactly 10 minutes this morning cutting bushes in my yard to finally brighten it up.

I used Nandina and Green Giant Arborvitae trimmings, and just did a quick clipping.  The best part? It didn’t cost me a penny, and I’m so pleased with these (simple!) results.

And, just for fun (and because they’re my favorite Christmas decoration), can you spot Mrs. Claus in this pic?

Isn’t she just cute?  I love pulling this mug set out every year.

And here’s Santa ~ he sits perched above my desk each day.

Have you done any simple Christmas decorating this year? I’d love to hear what you’ve done ~ leave a comment to share!

This post is linked to Living Well Spending Less Thrifty Thursday ~ thanks for the opportunity to link up! I’d love for you to join me over on Pinterest (I love that place!)  If you have a blog and have done a little fluffing in your home, I’d love to see it, so leave your link in the comments section. Also, if there’s a craft you’ve seen on a website that you’re hoping to make, feel free to share that link as well (I’m always looking for new ideas!)

  1. It’s not a decoration, but it is a Christmas Craft! 🙂 This year I sewed little aprons for our nieces and super hero capes or “build your own fort kit”s for our nephews. They were easy {though the forts and bags were a little time-consuming} and really fun to make!!

We already celebrated one Christmas and my 5 year old nephew put his batman cape on later in the day with just me and him in the room and said in total seriousness, “Aunt Janelle…this is awesome.” And my heart MELTED.

This is one of the blogs I pulled from to complete the forts:

  2. I’ll be honest…I haven’t really decorated for Christmas at all, except for put the tree up! I still have my fall decorations out. I don’t know how this Christmas season has snuck up on me so quickly! Wait…I had 20 people over for Thanksgiving, then my 3-year-old twins birthday party the following weekend… that’s how! 😉 I’ll get it together sooner or later. Thanks for sharing your ideas – they really inspire me to fluff it up.

    • We all have years where it just seems to be harder to get motivated Wanda! After doing this one I inspired myself to finish a little more decorating – it’s always hard to get going but once you get started so fun to enjoy for a few weeks at least!

I did something simple to fluff up my dining table. I just took some live christmas tree cutting and stuck them in a white pitcher on top of a christmas table runner. Simple and $free$…I love what you did with your bowl!
