Netflix Planning to Charge for Password Sharing
Netflix announced early this week that for the first time in a LONG time they actually lost subscribers in the first quarter of 2022. Two hundred thousand subscribers to be exact….  It's likely a results of the January price hike that took place (more about that below) – but Netflix believes that password sharing accounts for some of the lost customers.
Netflix has decided to crack down on the issue of password sharing by charging for it. The company says it's working on a way to allow users to share their Netflix password with those outside their household by charging those customers “a bit more”.
While this seems like a good way to prevent people from “cheating” – we worry it could also get messy for family members who travel for work, are in the military, or lots of other reasons you might be logging into Netflix from a tv away from home. It will be interesting to watch it unfold…
Another way Netflix is looking at handling the loss of customers is introducing a more affordable plan that includes ads/commercials.
Back in January, Netflix announced that they are raising their monthly fee across all plans. Prices jumped on every plan from the most basic to the most premium.
Basic – $9.99 (was $8.99 – and doesn't include HD)
Standard – $15.49 (was $10.99)
Premium – $19.99 (was $18.99)
And although it's still cheaper than cable, you may be rethinking if Netflix is the best alternative for you. What do you think – are you planning to stick with them through the latest changes?

This is terrible! I have issues with my HULU now! We have ATT fixes internet and it works off cell towers. I can’t get a fixed IP address therefore it thinks I am not at home and every time it happens, I spend over an hour on the phone with a technician fixing it!
